Well kept historical small hotel in the heart of Venice.

  10 May 2025

When reading reviews of historical centuries old hotels in Venice one should be reminded that they were built in a different era with different standards and expectations. Sloping floors, small elevators (this hotel has one), less than perfect doorways and windows, interesting locks, may be viewed differently by the Marriott crowd. The service was great and information at the front desk was perfect for us as we easily found all of the best sites and gained inside knowledge on ferries and such. It's a small hotel, breakfast available for a price. Put your order in the night before. The location provided plenty on coffee Cafe's and restaurants close by.

  Great location - boutique hotel

  27 Sept 2024

Great hotel with outstanding staff who were very helpful and friendly. Location is great and if you look out the lounge windows you can see part of the Rialto Bridge and the amazing views of the Grand Canal. Breakfast is good and is served in the lounge. The hotel is located on the 3rd floor of a historical palace (there is a lift), in the Cannaregio area. I would recommend using a water taxi to and from the airport as the walk from the train/bus drop off is around 30 minutes - by water taxi from airport to the hotels’ own jetty is less than 30 minutes. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect hotel for a city break

  22 Jul 2024

Great hotel with outstanding staff. Location is great and views over the grand canal. Breakfast of good and only one tiny issue on the first day that was put right in seconds. Recommend using a water taxi to and from the airport as the walk from the train / bus drop off is 30 minutes and by water taxi from airport to the hotels own jetty is less than 30 minutes. We will be back

  Great disappointment

  20 Feb 2024

I sometimes don't understand what other people experience to write their reviews, because it has good reviews, but what I found was a much-lower than average hotel experience; let me explain why: first, it smells really hard to chemical desinfectants; second, the staff is not helpful nor friendly at all (to the point they didn't even provided me with a legal tax invoice for my stay, which is illegal); third, the breakfast is dry (croissants and bread) with bad coffee and short (even thought the waiter was the only friendly member of the staff); and fourth, it's not properly isolated and you can hear even the breadth of your neighbouring guests (luckily they didn't snore!), So be ready to not sleep properly if you're not lucky. The location is good but, believe me, I have been many times in Venice and there are many better places for the same price (and cheaper). Don't be fooled!

  First Day Hotel Check-In Venice

  20 Oct 2023

I booked this hotel via Tripadvisor for our first two nights in Venice. Hard to review this hotel since this isn't where we actually stayed. A couple weeks after booking and receiving a confirmation that we were all set, I received an email that the property (Locanda Ai Santi Apostoli) wanted to move us to a sister property with a larger room with 5 beds just a few minutes walk away with no other information about this sister property. I called the Tripadvisor help line and after a long conversation, explaining that I didn't want to move, that my wife and I didn't need a room for 5 people, etc, I was assured that we would still be staying at the original hotel. When we got to the hotel we were informed that we were not staying that, but our were moved to Lion Morosini Palace. I tried to explain the above, but it was to no avail and after an overnight flight, long boat ride to the city center and 15 minute walk with luggage. My wife and I just wanted a room so we could leave our luggage and proceed with our vacation. The room itself was like a gymnasium (picture a big rectangle with 20 foot ceilings) with two double beds and a twin bed. The bathroom was the opposite, the size of a closet with a bathtub/shower that was actually so small it was difficult to stand in. The room key was an old fashioned key that you inserted in an old fashioned, see through type keyhole. No deadbolt, no electronic key. Not exactly the most secure set up. The one upside of the room was a view between buildings and over a courtyard of the grand canal. Just to be clear, our time in Venice was amazing and we are hoping to go back. My disappointment is that we booked one hotel (after reading reviews, looking at maps and photos), which is where we checked in/out and actually looked a lot nicer than where we stayed, but were put in a different property with no recourse or offer of reimbursement, this after we were assured that we wouldn't be moved. The staff at the hotel, Davide, Piumi and Antoinella were all very helpful and courteous.
