  Bed Bugs and misrepresentation

  We stayed here because of our friend's recommendation. What a disaster. We booked a suite well in advance and when we arrived by private water taxi transfer at 9.30 pm all seemed great.On arrival we were told that we were not in the main hotel and they have 3 buildings to put people in. We were guided to a building down an alley away from the main hotel and up 3 to 4 flights of stairs. On entering the room it became apparent that this room was not the room the had been represented on their website. We immediately expressed our dissatisfaction (we had booked for four nights) and were put on the phone to someone called Harry Singh who said he would sort it in the morning. As it was late at night we had no option but to stay in the room. As the night progressed it soon became apparent that the room was infested with bed bugs, ( we suffered multiiple bites) ,the curtains were hanging off runners and didn't fit the windows and the toilet flusher was broken and hanging off the wall.; also the room was dirty and the floor sticky. On pointing all this out to the member of staff who had initially accompanied us to the room, he empathised and agreed it was a cesspit. The room was unfit for any paying guest regardless of whether they had paid 330 euros per night like us. At 7.30 the following morning we had a meeting with the hotel manager who said he would move us to room 100, the hotel's best room. We left for our pre booked guided 8.00am walking tour ( fabulous) and returned at 3.00pm to discover our supposedly luxury room in the main hotel. It was 'okay' (had a hole in the floor, was extremely noisy and the bathroom was again dirty) but the experience of the first night was so bad that whatever they had offered could not have taken away the experience of spending a night in a bed bug ridden flea pit! We had booked a Junior suite which was supposedly one of their top rooms.The hotel staff when on duty were great but were all too well aware of the short comings of the hotel. We also had issues with security where our room key was left on the front desk all day and evening until after midnight when we returned - no staff were on duty and although the blurb say the front door is locked from 10.00 pm it isnt and is still open for anyone to walk in off the street and pick a room key up from the unattended reception desk.Moral of the story is don't skimp on hotel research otherwise you will end up in an overpriced fleapit such as Ca Gottardi - this is definitely not a luxury boutique hotel as it describes itself.However I did contribute to Venice's economy by buying a 13500 euro piece of glass to make up for the unpleasant experience of the hotel - its stunning!If the hotel had been up to standard we would have spent money there but sadly it fell far short of its online representation.

  Very good, decor beautiful, relaxed and calm atmosphere

  The location was perfect. We arrived really late but we were greeted with a smile and shown to our room which was beautiful. The bed, pillows and sheets were just heaven after our trip and we soon snuggled down and slept so well. Breakfast was a buffet and you just helped yourself. The room was cleaned and towels changed every day. Only there for 3 nights but really enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Thankyou Shropshire UK

  Nice hotel but noisy area

  Pros- Polite staff.- Nice room, clean room and bathroom.- Slippers provided and plenty of storage.- Breakfast and complementary drinks were nice.- Ideal location for sightseeing.Cons- Room 101, canal view. Popular area so theres a lot of noise and the windows don’t prevent any of it. From people talking / shouting on their way home from the pubs nearby and motor boats. - There was a delivery in the middle of the night to a building opposite so we heard a crane lifting loads of pallets and couldn't sleep.- Boats blast loud music every hour or so during the night when coming down the canal.- Only one side of the bed with plugs. Only realised on last night there’s a 4 way near the TV. - No do not disturb sign so room was unnecessarily cleaned.

  Our suite was very clean, beautifully decorated and very spacious. The location was fantastic and the breakfast was delicious. I would also like to say how helpful and accommodating the staff were, in particular, the young man who worked in the evenings, outstanding service, thank you!

  A truly fantastic hotel, perfectly located within easy walking distance of many main attractions. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Louisa, who was incredibly friendly and informative. She took the time to highlight ideal hotspots on a map, shared great ideas for our stay, and even made us a complimentary coffee which we felt was a thoughtful touch.Our superior double room with a canal view was beautifully decorated and had a real wow factor, with its high ceilings and chandelier. Breakfast was plentiful and served in a stunning dining area with stylish, modern décor.The checkout time of 11 am was convenient, and the staff went above and beyond by allowing us to leave our luggage and continue using the facilities while we continued to explore Venice and waited for our transfer.A true gem of a find — we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it and would happily stay again
