    Don’t do it!!

    The absolute worst. Filthy stair carpets up 4 flights of stairs with suitcase. Mosquitos in the room and dead ones smashed in walls and ceiling. Breakfast area does not look like pics! Our bathroom had a broken shower head. Had to shower on knees to wash my hair. “Patio” so they called it was decaying wood with one chair and small table for a child. Sign on the wall said sorry the government won’t let us upgrade our hotel. Uh right. Never heard of window screens a new shower head and paint? All BS. Don’t do it! We checked out and went elsewhere!!!

    The room was lovely, spacious and clean. The shared bathrooms were clean and nicely fitted. The accommodation is basic, but it’s a brilliant location and the staff were so lovely and friendly and the breakfast was great too. Really nice stay and good value for money.

    Between one-star locations in Old Venice it should be considered a great value for money place. Would it have a lift, it for sure could be a three-star place. Reception and dining are at the first floor, rooms - second to fourth floors - forth floor is still climbable for 80yo :). Clean. Expect Italian breakfast.

    It's important to understand that Venice was established in the 12th century to dominate Mediterranean trade and separate tourists from their money. They've hugely succeeded on both accounts. As long as you visit Venice, and the Laconda Silva, with that understanding you'll be okay. But Laconda is a budget hotel and offers just the basics. So no soap in the bathroom, wafer thin pillows, hard mattresses, grungy blankets, etc. If you want more in Venice you'll have to spend more. A lot more. I do think the hotel owners could spend just a little more money and pay a few more attention to details and they'd have a much nicer property without having to compete with the Hotel Danieli. Venice is the most beautiful city in the world and worth visiting so sometimes you just have to put up with some inconveniences here.

    We stayed for 4 nights. Family of three. Our son is 7 years old, he loved the hotel and the breakfast!Staff are friendly and helpful. Everything is clean. We'll recommend hotel Silva to our friends. We'll visit them definitely the next time we visit Venice.
