    Comfortable stay

    rating03 Apr 2026

After reading reviews on this hotel we were terrified of what we might find. The rooms are very dated and there is no facilities such as a fridge or kettle. Staff were mostly friendly, a bit abrupt at time. The beds were slightly hard as were the pillows. This hotel is in a great location with regular buses to and from the centre. The rooms were clean and spacious. Overall we were pleasantly surprised after reading reviews. Suppose you get what you pay for and maybe some people's expectations are a bit too high. We had a pleasant stay and other than the minor things I mentioned I have no negatives.

Worst Hotel Experience Ever. We suggested that Interval Exchange remove them from their list of clients.

    rating28 Dec 2025

For our 25th wedding anniversary, we used Interval Exchange to process a Hotel Exchange. It was not a straight exchange. We paid $560 for 8 nights/ 2rooms in advance, + the hotel taxes upon arrival. We exchanged a lovely 971 sq ft one-bedroom unit from Tahiti Village for the hotel rooms. The pictures that are advertised for the Hotel Ariston are not even close to what we received. Upon arriving, we noticed the mattress was heavily indented and sagging in the middle. When we pulled back the sheets, we found three locations the springs from the mattress had protruded and broke through the mattress in addition to a very large blood stain. The bed frame was extremely old and weathered throughout. The switch on the cord to the tiny lamp on the nightstand was soiled. The paint on the ceiling reflects an incomplete repair. The wallpaper near the heater was pealed back. Dirt and crumbs were all over the bottom of the only dresser drawer available for our clothes. Needless to say, we did not unpack our bags and immediately looked for a new location to complete our stay to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We checked out the next morning and expected to be refunded for 7 of the 8 days. Our exchange company contacted the hotel owner and advised us that unfortunately the owner was unwilling to do the right thing for his guests and would not provide a refund. The only employee we saw during check-in at the front desk could not even tell us where the bus stopped in order to take us to Venice. The front desk employee in the morning advised us that the heating pipes in the lobby were not working and the owner had no intentions of fixing them, so the front desk person had a little space heater to keep him warm. We were shocked that a maid would make up the bed in the condition it was in without reporting it to the owner and putting the room out of service. Based on how we've been treated, if the maid did report it, we wouldn't be surprised if the report fell on deaf ears.

A budget option, but at some distance from the stations.

    rating16 Aug 2025

Considering the prices for accommodation in Venice itself, staying in Mestre has long been a budget alternative. However, the price increase also affected Mestre, so in May Ariston offered a very humane price of 35 euros per double without city tax. In return, it was necessary to sacrifice the proximity to the train stations: Mestre FS is 2.5 km away, and Mestre Ospedale is about 1.5 km away. It is very convenient if you travel around the surrounding area, as we do - to Padua, Aquileia, Treviso, Conegliano. The central Mestre square, Piazza Erminio Ferretto, with restaurants and pizzerias, is about 1 km away. The hotel itself, as they say now, is "slightly tired." But those who are used to living in Paphos will not stop here anyway.. But the room is quite acceptable. We'll consider it vintage.. The Wi-Fi is stable.

    Ticket scam

    rating27 Jul 2025

Our stay was okay overall, but one situation was truly unacceptable and left us very disappointed. When we arrived, we asked the receptionist how to get to Venice by bus. He offered us tickets for €5 per person, claiming they included two 75-minute rides. He seemed confident, so we trusted him – even though official tickets only cost €1.50 per ride, meaning we should’ve paid €3 instead of €5.Worse still, my ticket was invalid, and I had to buy another one to continue the trip. When I returned to inform the receptionist, he seemed irritated but gave me a replacement. Later, a very kind woman at the front desk told us clearly that these tickets were not being sold legally, and that we could’ve faced a fine of €150–300 if checked. This is unacceptable and puts guests at real risk – all for a few extra euros. We felt misled and disappointed. The room itself was okay, but the bathroom was very cramped, and both the toilet and bidet were loose and in need of repair. Also, the rooms are extremely noisy – we could hear everything happening in the hallway, which made it hard to relax or sleep. We do not recommend this hotel. The ticket issue alone is serious enough, but combined with poor soundproofing and maintenance problems, we simply can't justify a return visit.
