    First timers be aware

    rating25 Apr 2026

Negatives: It was our first time travelling to Verona. Lovely hotel but for first time travellers without a car (like us) I would not recommend this hotel. First of all, the hotel is at least 30 min from the airport, starting us off with a $50 taxi fee. We were also about a 20 minute bus ride to and from downtown. Yes, the bus stop is only 1 block away from the hotel, but because it is so out of the way, the bus schedule is very limited and the latest bus to get back to the hotel was at 6pm, so we could never enjoy eating dinner or simply enjoy the night life of Verona. We had to head back to the hotel to eat dinner…or be stuck with another $50-$60 taxi fee. To come back in the evening and enjoy the pool/sauna services…we had to reserved a time giving us only a 2hr time slot…and there is a $15 fee to use these services!! I have never encountered having to pay to use these services at any other hotel ever. Except for check in, the front desk staff never spoke to us once. Would have been nice to at least have a hello & smile when we arrived back each evening. Positives: Dining room had good food (pricey) but expected. Friendly service. Breakfast was fantastic. Great choices. Room was nice…small but expected. Overall, nice if you have a car! Gruppo Cphotels, Owner at Hotel Villa Malaspina, responded to this review Hi Lori , thank you for sharing your experience at Hotel Villa Malaspina. We’re glad you enjoyed breakfast and dining, and we’re sorry the location, transport, and pool timing/fees didn’t meet your expectations. We’ll review these points with our team, including how we greet guests at check-in. If you return, we’d be happy to help plan a smoother stay and suggest options that fit your needs.

    Good!

    rating24 Jul 2025

We had a lovely stay here and would definitely consider coming back if we return to Verona. The hotel itself is beautiful, with spacious rooms that were cleaned daily—no complaints there. The staff were very attentive, and we especially loved the pool room (wish we’d booked it sooner!).The location is a bit out from central Verona, but once we got the hang of the bus system, it was really easy to get around. We even took a day trip to Lake Garda, which was super simple. There’s a great little ice cream parlour next door with mint gelato—hard to find in Verona, so I was thrilled! We found a few nice local restaurants nearby, plus a supermarket for bits and pieces. The hotel bar was small but nice, and we often sat outside playing card games and enjoying the space.Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. The juices were great, but as someone who can’t have dairy, I struggled with hot drinks—though with the heat, I didn’t really mind. Eggs were cold most mornings and the bacon wasn’t the best, but it’s hard to complain too much when it was included in the price. We didn’t try the onsite restaurant as it looked quite pricey and didn’t have many dishes that appealed to us, but we were happy with the local options. All in all, a really lovely stay! Quiet, comfortable, and a great base for exploring Verona and beyond. Gruppo Cphotels, Owner at Hotel Villa Malaspina, responded to this review Dear guest, thank you so much for your kind comment. We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the beauty of the hotel and the kindness of our staff. We hope to welcome you again if you return to Verona. Kind regards,
