Serious Warning for Canadian Travellers and a must read for safety and cleanliness.

    rating14 Jun 2026

Overall Rating: 2/5We stayed at Coral Ocean Springs Resort on our first trip to Jamaica as Canadians. While Jamaica itself is beautiful, and we met genuinely kind locals outside and in the resort, the resort experience was extremely disappointing and does not reflect a 4.5-star standard.I am writing this review as a clear warning to other travellers, especially families. I will also be posting separate detailed reviews for the excursions on Yaaman and Blue Luminous Lagoon tour, and they're worth the read if you're considering them. Major ConcernsExcursion Scams & Severe Price Inflation (Air Transat Representative – “Verone”)One of the most serious issues was the excursion booking process through the Air Transat representative at the resort (Verone). We were significantly overcharged compared to what the same or similar experiences cost locally:Yaaman Adventure Park (ATV, zipline, Blue Hole): $308 USDBlue Illuminescence catamaran dinner/show: over $200+ USDWe later discovered:These same experiences were being sold locally or through the resort at a fraction of the cost. Why rip off tourists???Guests were paying wildly different prices for the same excursions. Everyone on our bus paid different costs. Transportation and entry could be arranged independently for significantly less.Options for food as told my Verone, were dishonest as the people fed were given a small paper box of the same food. 15+ people weren't fed as well as us.Most concerning, for the Yaaman excursion:We were gone all day.My child and I were not provided food despite the cost, as well as more than 1/2 our bus. They cater in boxes of food, and this could've been avoided. We stayed 1.5 hours after the excursion ended as tourists were arguing with management, who took no responsibility and told us all the issues were with the airline reps we booked with at our hotels. They weren't wrong.** There was no proper communication of dietary requirements from the Air Transat hotel rep. We were offered a pop to leave the excursion at 6 pm after leaving the hotel early in the morning. This felt like a system where tourists are routinely overcharged with no transparency, and it is something travellers should be very cautious of. This was a constant with everything if you chose to leave the resort to do anything. ** Food Safety for Allergies Was Not Properly Managed **We are a celiac family and clearly communicated this in advance. On arrival, we were given an allergy card, in practice:Staff outside Martha Markets chefs had little understanding of gluten-free needs. We were unable to safely eat at most restaurants as they didn't know what to do.We went 2 days without eating proper food, living off of fruit. There was no proactive support or coordination when addressing this with the front desk, and I was referred to make complaints to management, even after talking to them. It was always a case of 'chasing or locating' the right person to talk to. No real efforts were made to create change. The only consistent positive was Chef Tamara at Martha’s Market and her team of exceptional chefs, and the only reason we were able to eat safely during our stay! She made us safe food, and we loved it! She also made us meals for the next day, so we weren't just waiting to eat dinner every day. I can't thank you enough for making our stay what it was as we weren't starving the 2/3's of our trip. The buffet had themes, and the food options (non-allergy) they had was phenomenal every night. You will not starve here if you can eat everything. Without her, this would have been a very unsafe and extremely difficult experience. The smoothie bar only had half the fruit they advertised and blamed the hurricane. When travelling off the resort, I saw the same missing fruit everywhere. Safety Concerns – Pools & Resort OversightI need to be very clear: I do not believe this is a safe resort for children to navigate independently. No clear presence of security or oversight of minors that other hotels have. The hotel wasn't large enough for the security to not know whose child was whose parent, but I never saw any security walking the grounds. Concerns included:Both Pools consistently showing visible debris (clumps of hair, food, unclean conditions). If you want to hear the music of Jamaica, you might be sadly disappointed. We had to beg to hear reggae at the soap party which they played for 30 minutes. No reggae music, but Disney music all morning and day. No visible security presence around water areas (beach and pools), especially in the evening.Lack of clear safety enforcement in high-risk areas. They never maintained the pool's cleanliness in the evening, and people swam at all hours. Kids pool opened after 9:30am with lifeguards who were great! During our stay, a guest tragically died in the main pool area. The response and aftermath were deeply distressing and raised serious concerns about whether adequate safety measures are in place. The following day was the only time I seen them vacuuming the main pool sadly. The kids pool was full of food and other items that were never vacuumed. I'm not even sure if there was a filtration system in the kids pool as they siphoned water out with buckets when it rainedFor a family-oriented resort, this level of oversight is unacceptable.Staff Attitude & Lack of AccountabilityWhile a few staff members were excellent (again, especially the chefs at Martha’s Market), the overall service experience was poor.Common issues:Guests frequently treated as an inconvenience. I truly missed the feeling of Cuba, as I didn't feel like they were happy you were there. Requests are often met with frustration or dismissalConcerns were redirected instead of resolved by concierges of the hotel. Front desk interactions focused on process and deflection rather than solutionsThere was a consistent pattern of blaming or passing issues along rather than fixing them. We're there on vacation and asking for help, and it was, for the most part, always negative or 'passing the buck'. Really disliked the constant negative experiences, especially when on vacation and you're supposed to be relaxing, not being sent all over to speak with a person just so you can eat. Resort Experience & CleanlinessRoom cleanliness was below expectations on arrival (pubic hair all over the washrooms, linen missing daily, late cleaning etc)Housekeeping was inconsistent throughout our stayTowels/hand towels/shower mat were rarely replaced regularlyBasic maintenance and attention to detail felt lacking. My door handle was replaced by security only to replaced 2 times after because they didn't have proper equipment and didn't know how to fix it.The resort itself is large and visually appealing, but maintenance and cleanliness standards do not match its advertised rating.Important Advice for Future TravellersDo NOT rely on resort or airline representatives for excursionsDo your own research before booking anything. Prices vary drastically, and you can easily be overcharged.I strongly recommend:Checking Facebook travel groups for current pricingBuy from the market to the left of the beach area on the resort, their stuff was cleaner and nicer than Ocho Rios market (you can also horse back ride 15$ per person)Reading independent reviews before booking anythingComparing local vendors outside the resortNote the beach is super small! Not much room for a lot of people. Not assuming resort pricing is fair or standard, we trusted them because they have Air Transat uniforms, but we were ripped off like others. Expect Price Variability Across Jamaica, especially as a Canadian, as the exchange rates were greatly inflated. I had to pay off my card to shop more while on vacation. It's almost impossible to negotiate with vendors at markets, and all prices are USD. This is a resort you will need to tip for everything and need cash. We found that:Prices are not standardizedTourists are often charged differently for the same serviceNegotiation and research are essential to avoid being overchargedFinal ThoughtsJamaica is a beautiful destination and we had meaningful experiences outside the resort. However, Coral Ocean Springs itself was extremely disappointing in terms of service, transparency, safety oversight, and excursion practices. We left feeling relieved to go home rather than refreshed from a vacation. I would not recommend this resort to families, and I would strongly advise Canadian travellers to do extensive independent research before booking excursions or relying on in-resort representatives. For the cost to travel to Jamaica from Canada, we could have went to the DR twice and Cuba 3 times. I truly missed Cuba after being here but was glad we got to see Jamaica and meet many lovely people. This experience made it clear that without prior research, it is very easy to be overcharged and under-supported throughout the entire stay. Guest Experience Specialist, Other at Ocean Coral Spring, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. While we are glad Chef Tamara and her culinary team provided safe, exceptional dining for your family, we are deeply concerned by the numerous shortfalls you experienced during your stay. Please be assured that we take your comments regarding health, safety, and hygiene with the utmost seriousness. Your notes regarding celiac accommodation, pool cleanliness, evening security oversight, housekeeping standards, and staff accountability have been escalated directly to our Executive Committee and Department Heads for immediate review and corrective action. Additionally, while the excursion desks are operated independently by third-party airline partners, we are addressing your serious concerns regarding their booking transparency and tour management directly with their leadership. We deeply regret that your vacation fell so short of our expected standards, and we hope to have the opportunity to regain your trust and provide a safe, seamless experience in the future.

    First time in Jamaica

    rating14 Jun 2026

It was our first time to Jamaica, and we already cannot wait to go back! We spent 8 wonderful days at Ocean Coral Spring and also made time to explore outside the resort, which made the trip even more memorable. We stayed in a Privilege Rooftop Suite, and it was fantastic. The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The two-story layout with two bathrooms gave us plenty of room to relax. Housekeeping did an excellent job cleaning the room daily, and we loved having evening turndown service. The mini fridge was restocked every day, and since we drink a lot of water, the staff always made sure we had plenty available. Our butlers, Ardley and Moya, were absolutely amazing. They helped secure and adjust our dinner reservations whenever needed and even prepared to-go bags for us when we were leaving the resort for the day. They went above and beyond to make our stay special, including leaving a birthday note and surprise on the bed for my birthday. The staff throughout the resort were incredible. Whether we interacted with restaurant staff, groundskeepers, housekeeping, or the Privilege team, everyone was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed happy to help. One fun thing we did was bring mini ducks and hide them around the resort. The staff were so excited when they found them and proudly showed us the ones they had discovered. Those little interactions made our stay even more enjoyable and memorable. We tried several restaurants during our stay, including Privilege, the Buffet, Ocean Burger, Jamaican Grill, Red Snapper, Route 66, Sakura, Sugar Cane, and La Locanda. We especially loved the Privilege restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and the Jamaican Grill was excellent for lunch as well. Dinner was enjoyable at all of the specialty restaurants. My personal favorite was Sakura, while my family absolutely loved Red Snapper. The buffet always had a great variety of food, and the selections changed frequently, which kept things interesting throughout our stay. One tip for families: the specialty restaurants do offer kids’ meals, but this wasn’t advertised during our visit. We were taking our son to the buffet before our dinner reservations because we didn’t realize this. Once we found out, dining became much easier. We spent all of our beach time in the Privilege beach area, and we loved it. No matter what time we arrived, there were always chairs and cabanas available, making it easy to relax and enjoy the beautiful views.Overall, Ocean Coral Spring is a wonderful resort with amazing staff who truly care about making guests feel welcome. Between the accommodations, food, service, and beautiful surroundings, we had an incredible experience. It was a memorable first trip to Jamaica, and we would absolutely return again. Guest Experience Specialist, Other at Ocean Coral Spring, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for choosing us for your first trip to Jamaica and for sharing such a wonderful review of your 8-day stay in our Privilege Rooftop Suite. We are absolutely thrilled to hear that our entire team made you feel so welcome, and we will proudly pass along your special recognition to Ardley and Moya for their exceptional care and birthday surprise. It is also heartwarming to hear about the mini-duck hunt our staff thoroughly enjoyed those fun interactions! We are delighted you loved our diverse dining options, particularly Sakura and Red Snapper, as well as the relaxing Privilege beach area. Thank you also for your valuable tip regarding our kids' menus; we will ensure this is better highlighted to our families moving forward. We cannot wait to welcome you and your family back to Ocean Coral Spring for another incredible getaway!

    Great Family Vacay!

    rating13 Jun 2026

We had a family group of 19 spending family vacay at Oceans beginning May 31st. Two couples stayed on Eden side, four families stayed on Coral Springs side. We had an absolute blast! The resorts are connected and big enough so that everyone could have their autonomy. Some enjoyed the beach in the morning, others enjoyed spa and exercise room. The kids migrated to water park early afternoon and we’d all end up at Coral side pool in afternoon. Nights were spent on the resort boulevard, eating and enjoying music. Kids also loved bowling and the family lounge. Everyone loved their rooms and the relaxing atmosphere. My husband and I stayed a few extra days. This was our second visit to the resort (Eden last time, Coral Springs this time) and we were excited to share our Premium membership with our family so they could experience this beautiful resort property. The vacay was 10/10. Shout out to a few staff members who made our trip extra memorable. Lenny - Bartender at Privledge (Coral). What a beautiful soul! Always a positive word and good conversation. Rashine - Waitress at Privledge (Coral). She was exceptional and ensured our daughters 34th birthday was extra special. Moesha - Hostess at Privledge (Coral). Always greeted us with a smile and remembered us!Melrose - (Coral pool) Butler service, Privledge area. Always attentive, kept the rum punches coming, and answered all our endless questions about Jamaican culture. Jillisa - (Coral pool) Butler service, Privledge area. She had an instant connection to our family and we always looked forward to seeing her! She is a ray of sunshine. Kelly-Ann - Waitress at Privledge (Coral). She greeted us every morning with a smile and a hot cup of coffee. Nicola - Privledge desk (Coral). Upon check-in she noticed it took longer than expected. She ensured we were greeted with a charcuterie in our room for our troubles. Over and beyond. Nazwa - Butler (Coral). Although we weren’t very needy, Nazwa was exceptional. She is the epitome of good customer service. She reached out by text, stopped by our room and met us on property to ensure we knew she was there for us should we need anything. She is such a beautiful person inside and out we appreciated her attention to detail. She ensured our vacay was perfect. Moyhan - Greeter (Coral) He greeted us upon arrival and bid us farewell upon departure. Welcoming and great sense of humor! He set the tone for a wonderful stay and sent us on our way with a smile. So many more - the entire staff was exceptional. Thank you for a beautiful vacation! We’ll be back! Guest Experience Specialist, Other at Ocean Coral Spring, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you so much for celebrating your family vacation with us and for sharing this incredible 10/10 review. Just book it!

    rating10 Jun 2026

This was our second time staying at this resort. First time, we tried Eden Bay. This time we stayed on the Coral Spring side. The biggest difference and only noticeable difference is the pool. Eden Bay is obviously a bit quieter, more relaxed. Coral Spring is lively and fun, just the pool is a bit less relaxed. Coral Spring is also close to some of our favorite restaurants and bars. I will tell you, the bar tenders are there every single day providing top notch service and greeting each and every person with their favorite drink and a huge smile. These welcoming faces are the reason I will return over and over again. Make sure you see Judene and Miguel in the lazy river bar. These two people are amazing. At the main pool, Kerrol was the best face to be greeted by each day. The wait staff are great, the lifeguards are helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean, food options for everyone. I have nothing negative to say about this place. Do yourself a favor and just book it. Guest Experience Specialist, Other at Ocean Coral Spring, responded to this review Dear Guest,Welcome back, and thank you so much for choosing to stay with us for a second time! We are thrilled that you enjoyed exploring the Coral Spring side of our resort and appreciated its lively atmosphere and convenient location. Our team prides itself on providing exceptional hospitality, and your high praise will be proudly shared with everyone especially Judene and Miguel at the lazy river bar, and Kerrol at the main pool. They will be absolutely delighted to know their welcoming smiles and top-notch service are the reasons you will return.Thank you for your enthusiastic recommendation, and we look forward to welcoming you back home to paradise for your third visit!

Beautiful Resort, but a Serious Security Incident Remains Unresolved

    rating09 Jun 2026

My stay at Ocean Coral Springs was unfortunately overshadowed by a serious security incident that left me disappointed and concerned.During my stay, my iPad (6th Generation) went missing from inside my guest room. The loss was reported immediately, and while staff were courteous and attempted to assist, the overall response felt reactive rather than guided by a clear investigative process. Communication was inconsistent, and I often found myself seeking updates rather than receiving them proactively. What was particularly disappointing is that I had paid for the Privilege experience, expecting a higher level of service, attention, and guest care. While there were excellent team members who were professional and genuinely helpful, the handling of a significant guest security issue did not reflect the premium experience that was advertised. To the resort’s credit, corporate representatives have acknowledged my concerns and advised that the matter remains under investigation. However, I am still awaiting a substantive resolution, including information regarding compensation for the loss and the significant disruption this incident caused to my vacation. As a paying guest who invested in the Privilege experience, I expected a higher standard of security, communication, and accountability. The property itself is beautiful, with well-maintained grounds, enjoyable pools, and a lovely beach. Unfortunately, guest safety and confidence are just as important as amenities. I hope management uses this incident as an opportunity to strengthen security procedures, improve communication during investigations, and ensure guests receive timely and meaningful resolutions when serious issues arise.A missing item is unfortunate anywhere, but when a guest’s property disappears from inside their room, the response, communication, and resolution become just as important as the loss itself. I remain hopeful that Ocean Coral Springs and H10 Hotels will provide an appropriate resolution. Guest Experience Specialist, Other at Ocean Coral Spring, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. While we appreciate your compliments regarding our beautiful grounds, enjoyable pools, and lovely beach, we are deeply concerned by the security incident involving your missing device. We sincerely apologize that the handling of this matter did not reflect the proactive communication, transparency, and premium care that our Privilege experience promises. Your peace of mind and safety are paramount, and we deeply regret the frustration and disruption this caused to your vacation. Please be assured that our local management team is working in direct tandem with our corporate office and H10 Hotels representatives regarding this active investigation. We are fully committed to ensuring a thorough review is completed and providing you with a timely, meaningful resolution. We value your patience and candor as we use this experience to strengthen our security and communication protocols.
