Restaurant staff need some training in customer relations.

We just recently stayed at Travellers for 7 nights. I was so looking forward to staying at this hotel for a few reasons. I loved the idea of it being locally owned and the size of the property. Unfortunately I do not think I would return. Lets start at the beginning. Front desk staff were great at both check in and check out. I only used them for assistance one other time during my stay to enquire about transportation and they were great then as well. The driver that we used from the hotel - Kenneth (Kenny) was also fantastic. He drove us to the Rockhouse for lunch and picked us up at Josephs cave when we were ready. He was great!! Housekeeping staff were also a great bunch of people, always quick with a smile and hello. The property is kept very clean and I think they would have cleaned our room everyday if we had not told them it was not necessary. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Now lets move on to the restaurant and bar staff. The first morning we went to the restaurant to eat was shortly after breakfast rush. Most of the tables on the main deck were still occupied or dirty. (Before my current job I was in the service industry for over 20 years in all sorts of capacities and establisments from a 5 star resort in the rockies to a locally owned mom and pop hot spot in my home town. So I am aware of of what it takes to be a server.) We stood at the entrance to the patio and waited for someone to acknowledge us but that did not happen. So I did what I know we are not supposed to do and that is sit at a dirty table, not because the table is dirty but because staff do not know if you are a new customer or old one. I made contact with one of the male servers who is also a regular bartender. He came over to the table and asked if we were new guests and before I could apologize for sitting at a dirty table I was sort of lambasted for it. Enough that it put a total damper on our first meal at Travellers. No one came to the table while we were eating to see how everything was, we had to ask for the bill and had to ask them to remove the fruit plate that never made its way to our table. After a couple of days of avoiding the place we decided to give them another chance for lunch. This time we had a female server but the experience was pretty much the same. I will say that the fish sandwich was amazing, so good that we went back at the end of our stay to have another one but the second time we did not get the tarter sauce, when we asked the server she brought mayo. So no consistency. One night we stopped at the bar after eating at another establishment to see if we could get a coffee and were told that there was no coffee made. I dont get it, they have a small gold mine in this restaurant and they are letting it fall to the wayside. Every night when we walked by the bar/restaurant to go have dinner some where else the music playing was not dinner appropriate, too loud too rockin. Perfect for after dinner but not while peole are trying to have a nice meal in such a beautiful setting. There is also the option to dine on the beach but the bar/restaurant music is competing with the romantic beach dinner music. What a fiasco!! So, would I recommend Travellers as a place to stay? Yes!! As place to go eat a meal ? No! Save your money and eat somewhere else where you are acknowledged with a smile and the staff actually seem happy to be there and happy to have you join them!!

Lovely little hotel. I read these when booking so I try give feedback to help others. First massive shout out to the house keeping staff and Ricky at the bar he is so funny. Pro- stayed in the cabins. Loved the greenery, so quiet, cute little decks. Great showers rain heads awesome. Little kitchenettes were cool. AC worked well. Beach water- nice no rocks no seeweed. Close walk to many other restaurants. Pool- awesome big for a small hotel fun and loved swim up bar Food- overall very tastey. Good amount of choice and decent price. View awesome located steps on the beach. ConsRoom- beds need some work kind of old to get in. Some items don’t work like out safe and missing a few things coffee maker etc BUT NOTE ANYTHING WRONG THRY CORRECTED. MAINTENANCE CAME REAL FAST SL EGILE OLDET SHALE THRY RUN TO HELPBeach- not their fault but small and curved a bit harder to walk until you get further down. Overall it was great and I would stay again. The people and cleanliness make up for few little things. I will recommend to others.

Great getaway

My husband and I celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at this beautiful snail homely hotel. It was more than what we expected totally. The space was modern and our bed nicely decorated which was a nice surprise. As foodies the food is a big deal for us and man did they deliver!! They had us eating on property daily as the food was sooooo good. I surprised my husband with a 5 course dinner on the beach for our Anniversary and the attention to detail was exactly what I wanted and more as I’m very detail oriented and made some requests, which were topped. Our server Ovell was amazing, attentive yet giving the space that we needed to have a private moment. Overall all the staff were professional and pleasant. I could tell that the hotel was busy based on the amount of people we saw but the staff was quite attentive and there was no excessively long wait periods for service at the Restaurant, or the beach towels or chairs or just to talk to someone. Thanks to Ms Sue and her team for the great hospitality. Romane served us a few times and we observed him as well as I recognized him from the hotel’s facebook page and he was quick and attentive. It was even a bigger surprise to know that they provided Entertainment!! Yes we had a DJ 1 night and Karaoke another night. There is even a lounge room that’s separate from the lobby and a Gym. This was a great getaway!

Beautiful Location and wonderful experience

Absolutely brilliant. Beautiful location and chilled atmosphere with friendly welcoming staff. We were collected and dropped off at the airport by Eddie who was fantastic. He really looked after us during our visit, he's a star.Upon arriving we were warmly greeted by staff and one of the owners of the resort, which was so nice, and it was really nice seeing them all throughout our stay. Our room was really comfortable with our balcony looking out towards the garden. Our room was kept clean with daily housekeeping and the ladies were lovely.I'm partially disabled and use crutches to walk around very slowly, but all staff were so kind, patient and encouraging. The pool area was really nice and very relaxing with plenty of seating and the beach was beautiful with no problems getting help getting a chair and relaxing by the sea. There was daily entertainment which was really good and didn't go on too late unless it was a weekend which had a later finish. The shop inside the resort was great and sold everything you would need which was so handy for me due to not being able to get about as much as I would like. Harry the shop owner and his wife were so helpful and friendly. The restaurant was fantastic and value for money with friendly waitresses and bar staff. A shout out to Antoinette who was one of the waitresses who looked after us while there, sorry I didn't get the names of the others. An unforgettable stay and hoping to visit again and bring my family with me next time.
