Stayed at Moon Palace Jamaica and honestly would not go back.Check-in started with the Palace Elite “registration,” which felt more like a sales pitch than anything helpful. For first-timers, that should be explained much better instead of being presented around credits and benefits. The room was a big letdown. It was not clean at check-in, and our balcony in the South Tower 3rd floor faced construction. Workers were active early the next morning too, which was not exactly the relaxing resort vibe we expected. The hallway carpets were dirty, and the room had several issues that should not happen at this price point. The bathroom situation was especially frustrating. The bathroom door could actually get locked from the outside, which is ridiculous. At one point we realized the only way to open it was by using our home key from outside to turn the knob. That is not a minor inconvenience, that is just poor design or poor maintenance. The bathroom exhaust fan also worked only sometimes, causing smell troubles. Even the shower gel holder would not stay in place the way it should, so even basic things in the room felt broken. The hair dryer situation was another example of how unpolished everything felt. It needed a converter/adapter, and even after we got one, the two-pin dryer still would not plug in properly. For a resort that markets itself as upscale, this kind of basic setup should not be an issue guests have to figure out.Dining was also inconsistent. The Buccaneer buffet food options were okay, but during peak hours it clearly lacked staff attention. One day we had to wait 10 minutes just to get plates, which should not be happening at a resort like this. Dinner reservations were another hassle. We had to keep constantly searching for available slots, and I kept wondering why I should be doing that while on vacation.Transportation was also overpriced. The ride from the airport is long, and we later found out the hotel was charging way more than booking directly with Jamaica Tours for what looked like the same bus.Overall, Moon Palace Cancun is much better. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Moon Palace Jamaica.
