  The Dormy Inn hotel chain is consistently excellent. This was the 3rd or 4th Dormy Inn stay and we keep choosing it because of the value. Double room is very compact but the layout makes the best use of limited space. Perfect for two people who don't spend a lot of time in the room. Shower (no tub) is strong and A/C worked well. No daily cleaning service but you can deposit your trash/dirty towels outside and get new towels daily. The option to include breakfast is definitely worth it. The buffet has excellent variety so you don’t get bored and the restaurant has an interesting street view. The hot springs baths are wonderfully soothing. Businessmen often use the hotel so the men's bath was often busier that the women's. Free ice cream after your bath, free late-night ramen, generous amenities and very friendly staff. Location is PERFECT. Many places within walking distance and close to bus stop and subway/train access. They will hold your luggage before you check in and after you check out, however they don’t offer luggage forwarding services. However, you can easily have that done at the Family Mart conveniently connected to the hotel lobby.

  Great Onsen, Ramen, and Pillows.

  Make sure that you know you put in this Dormy Inn's address onto Google Maps, or whichever service you use. I almost went to the Dormy Inn Premium that was a block away when I was first arriving in town! The only two main complaints I have are that walls and/or ceilings did not suppress sound between rooms as well as in my other hotels. I could hear some movements of other people getting ready in the morning. Wasn't too loud, but I could hear some floor creaks. The furniture and tables looked a little worn and older as well, but other than that, everything else was good.Despite the room looking a little dated, it was comfortable and clean. I loved the pillows too. They felt kind of like a memory foam material that your head sinks into a little but is still supportive (I would definitely consider purchasing one for myself!)I didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but I did have the free ramen in the evening two out of the three nights I was there. The gentleman that cooked the ramen both nights was very kind. On the second night I stopped by he asked if I needed just one bowl of ramen, remembering how I only ordered one for just myself the previous night. I'm sure it helps that I was non-Asian, but I still appreciated that from him. The dining area is simple and spacious, with plenty of seating by the windows if you want to people-watch or just enjoy watching the cars drive by below. The onsen was lovely as well. For women, you get a code that you enter in on an electronic number pad (so the numbers change positions every time someone goes in.) The changing room and onsen were in really good condition, and they even have soap, shampoo, and conditioner at the baths too if you don't want to bring your own. If you aren't familiar with onsens, they give you a pamphlet with a QR code that has a link to watch a short video on how to do so. They give you a Japanese or English option. But basically, it's to wash yourself down before you enter the baths! I would highly recommend trying it out if you never have been to an onsen before.I would definitely stay at this chain again. Glad I chose this one in Fukuoka.

  Great location with Onsen (????)

  The location was amazing - bus just outside the hotel and train around the corner. It was walkable to hakata station too. Fresh towels daily hung outside the door. One of few hotels that have an onsen (????), it had a cold pool, regular area and and o pool that had access to the outside area which felt wonderfully. Afterwards you have the waiting area with “ice candy” or Yakult bottles as refreshments which is nice. Later in the evening there is also free bowl of ramen waiting for your enjoyment.Staff were friendly and very accommodating as we came in little early, and allowed us to have them hold our baggage’s until check in time (at 3PM) while we did a little sightseeing before checking in. Lastly, there’s a convenience store connected to the property so that was a great plus.The only con I can think of would be the size of the room as it COULD be a little larger for the price. We stayed as a family of 4 in 2 rooms.This will definitely be an option again if we return to Hakata in the future ^^

  The hotel is easy to find from the metro station. It is centrally located so you can walk to almost everywhere. The staff was friendly and helpful . Most spoke English well. In the lobby there are personal care products, in case you need anything. They offer ice pops on the afternoon and ramen at night. Both were good! The onsen is wonderful! There is one for the ladies and one for the men. Do be aware, it is not clothing optional… you will have to disrobe to use them!
