  Smaller Than Expected; Convenient for Subway; Good Onsen with Various Complimentary Stuffs

  We chose this hotel because we were quite familiar with Dormy chain, and this location was right next to the entrance of the building connecting to the main Canal City. Unfortunately, that building was closed for renovation during my stay (not sure how long), so we needed to walk a bit outside to access Canal City. It’s not too bad, but main purpose was a failure, haha.However, other than that, it’s good for almost every aspect. Although this hotel was a bit smaller than other Dormy hotels we had stayed in so far, this one was very convenient for subway access. My family stayed there for 4 nights, which was great. Onsen was good, then followed by free ice cream. Maybe this room should be expanded for seating as we had nowhere to sit and talk to my kids while enjoying ice cream waiting for my wife to finish up from onsen.Later at night, we came down again for free half-sized ramen provided. My room was adequate in size and space. Amenities were good with our favorite Pola body soap and shampoo.The staff were very friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out were easy and fast.

  Breakfast was the best!

  Great breakfast with enormous food selection. Great baths (3pm-10am) with sauna room. Great location - above subway - 29 minute walk to sumo. Yukata and slippers provided. Really first class - small but well-appointed rooms. Bed was very comfortable, but only 2 pillows per 2 people… I’d ask for a second pillow next time.

  A different kind of review - because we never actually stayed at the hotel. But we had to write a review for the ‘above and beyond’ service the hotel staff gave us despite not being guests. One of the last days of March, me, my husband og two children (3 & 6) arrived in Fukuoka - without a hotel booking. Of course a big mistake. After dropping by multiple hotels down the street from Hakata Station, we ended up in Dormy Inn which of course didn’t have any rooms either. With two tired kids, we maybe looked a bit desperate, but the hotel staff let us borrow the internet for checking hotel vacancies, gave the kids juice, and when we afterwards couldn’t book or catch any taxis, they ran down the street in the rain trying to help us. Next time we’re in Fukuoka we’ll definitely book a stay in Dormy Inn.

  Good but can be better

  Given the excellent location (next to Hakata Canal City) and walking distance to Hakata Station, I would have given it 5 stars if not for the following reasons:* no safe on the room (the one in Kumamoto has)* free 'yakult' drink is limited to 5-10am (the other 2 Dormy Inns we stayed in Kyushu has left it for guests to take even at night when it is the peak usage for most of us)* nothing really premium about it (as compared to the previous 2 Dormy Inns we stayed in during this trip)Having said so, I would choose Dormy Inn the next time I am in Japan due to the great onsens, sauna, free ramen, free ice cream, and excellent locations most of the time. :) Thumbs up!

  Close to the Canal City shopping/entertainment complex in Hakata, this hotel seems to be a very popular choice, especially amongst tourists from Korea. Every night the hotel serves delicious complimentary "half-size" (small, as expected) ramen to guests, at which time the lobby and the dining area can feel very crowded.Rooms are of the typical Japanese "business hotel" size, but with very functional layout.One of the main sellling points of this chain hotel is the complimentary onsen baths, which were very enjoyable.
