Simply Hakata. This is a very local Japanese hotel near Hakata train station. For it location you can access to great local food, as well as local snacks. Rooms are standard and functional. Comes woth complimentary coffee and water. And complimentary toiletries. My room came with a complimentary pillar. My first such experience with a room. Interesting.

The hotel is to your right as you exit the Hakata Station. There is no need to cross the street which is very convenient if you have luggage. The hotel provides ice dispenser and a microwave.

This hotel only somehow functions because it is close to station, so do yourself a favour and do not touch it with a ten foot pole. Our room had barely any lights, it was half dark at night. The lighbulbs are just... missing. Did not mind that, as we spend the most of our time outside it, but then there was a problem with loundry.First, they claim they have loundry service at the reception desk, that is a big fat lie. They just direct you to laundry machines. There are only two. One was broken and the staff had no idea how to help the person and shrugged it off.The other one - no one was picking up the laundry. In another hotel we went to the staff would just pick up someone else's laundry and keep at reception desk. Here - no help whatsoever. I tried asking for help, I tried filing a complaint and the staff refused to talk to me. The guy at the desk just stared blankly at me. Again, do yourself a favour and avoid this place, especially as a foreigner.

Great location near Hakata station. Clean rooms. Breakfast buffet spread was nice including Japanese breakfast. Enjoyed the mentai egg omelette there. Bathroom has a tub which was nice. Reception Staff were English speaking. Daily housekeeping, with yukata and instant tea & coffee provided too.

Location wise it is great as it is just outside (on the right) the Chikushi Entrance of the Hakata Station, the main train station in Hakata. Lots of food and shopping malls around that area.The hotel is a little dated but the size of the room for 3 pax is comfortable. In terms of cleanliness, it does appear to be less satisfactory than the other hotels we stayed while in Japan. But it is still acceptable. The range of toiletries they provided in the room, however, is more complete. The only thing we did not like about the room is the centrally controlled air-conditioner. We cannot adjust the temperature and one of the friends commented that it is a little stuffy.Breakfast in the hotel is good, although it only starts at 7am. So for those we need to go to the airport early, you will have limited time to have breakfast. Security wise, the lift to the room (which is the same lift that takes you to the front office) does not need a room card to access, so anyone can just go up the floors where the rooms are.
