GRAND CLASSIC HOTEL IN GOOD LOCATION!

    rating19 May 2026

Stayed 3 nights here, and all in all had a very comfortable stay. This is a large, older hotel with a lot of history in its walls. The room interior is rather dated, however, it was clean and everything was in working order. New, super large TV in the room. Nice classic lobby and a lot of dining options in the hotel. Good and central location, close to Tenjin area for shopping and dining. There is also a market and a smaller side street with several nice Japanese restaurants and bars close to the hotel. A Family Mart and a supermarket are very close bye as well. Taxi fare from the airport was just 2200 Yen (around USD 14). I would gladly stay here again on a future visit to Fukuoka. Good value for the price paid in my opinion.

    Another great stay

    rating12 Apr 2026

This was our second stay at the Hotel New Otani Hakata, the first was in April 2025.Great location, great service.Rooms are spacious and well-equipped, room service is thorough.Overall great value for money, especially if you want somewhere with a classic feel in the center of the city near to the shopping and entertainment areas and with public transport within walking distance (Hakata Station about 15 minute walk and Watanabe-Dori subway station right on the doorstep).Considering it’s on the main road it is surprisingly well sound-proofed.All of the staff I’ve encountered are professional and polite. The staff comprise a number of nationalities including Japanese, South Korean and Chinese. Many staff also have more than adequate English language capabilities. I’ve found there is always at least one English speaker on duty at any given time.A special thanks to trainee Miss Yamakage for her assistance.

    Lovely Old School Hotel

    rating29 Jan 2026

This was a very exciting find. It is right beside the subway station and arriving there was like going back in time with the bellhops mostly ladies in full uniform and caps to greet you and take your bags whilst they send you to reception to check in. The reception staff were amazing, so warm and welcoming and English was not a problem. The young lady checking me in had been to study In Toowoomba QLD of all places and we had a good chat about Toowoomba. Then the bellhop collects you again and takes you and your luggage to your room and shows you everything and then you get a metal key to your room. No computers/robots here. Room was beautiful and comfortable and I so enjoyed my stay in a great hotel and location. Will definitely be back if ever in Fukuoka again.

Dated and well-maintained with travel convenience in quieter area

    rating25 Jan 2026

The hotel location stood out because of it being slightly out of the busy areas of Tenjin and Hakata. Yet traveling to these areas are a breeze with the bus and the station is just 2mins walk. Walking towards Tenjin shopping area is also just a 8-10mins walk. Nearby, you will find a FamilyMart, a supermarket and a good everyday handmade sandwich shop. The rooms are dated, as you will notice the signs at the doors and furniture. Surprisingly, this hotel hosts local weddings giving it a very local cultural experience, unless majority of internationalised hotels. Amenities such as coin laundry, which seems to be more economical than the laundromats in the city, and a smart tv in the room does give it an edge. The staffs are also extremely helpful, and hospitable. This is based on the experiences of stay at other chains of hotel.

    Comfortable and elegant

    rating28 Nov 2024

We loved staying at this hotel. Our bags were taken to our room, the staff were lovely and we received an upgrade to a large room with a lounge area and entrance hall. I loved the vintage feel. Each night when we came back to our room it felt cosy, comfortable and welcoming. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious and breakfast which was also great. The lobby is very elegant and Don Draper from Madmen could walk through and I wouldn't have been surprised!! Highly recommend. We have been in Japan for a month and it's our favourite hotel so far.
