Enjoyable stay at the Okura hotel Fukuoka. We thought the hotel probably needed a bit of an update as the furnishings seemed dated however this did not deter us enjoying our stay. Breakfast was good with plenty of options.

We had a very enjoyable 4 night stay at the hotel which was conveniently located as part of our 17 day sightseeing trip across Japan. All of the hotel staff that we encountered were very professional, polite and friendly. We enjoyed breakfast each day at the hotel which had plenty of choice both hot and cold options. The hotel room was well appointed and clean but some of the bedroom furnishings and fittings were a little dated and in need of modernising but it didn't detract from an enjoyable stay.We would happily stay there again!

Extremely polite staff and several of them. Helpful too! Great location near the port area and shopping street. Room was clean and comfy with tea making facilities.

This was a really great hotel. The staff, as was everywhere we stayed in Japan, extremely courteous and respectful with nothing too much trouble. The main reason for my review is the value for money, the rooms were big by western standards and huge by Japanese standards, to a very high quality and very well equipped. For the price we paid it was excellent value for money. The hotel is in a great location too. We only stayed one night as part of a multi location trip through Japan (which is an amazing country!!) and we wished we were staying more nights. When we come back we will definitely stay here again! A great end to and an amazing trip!

Very bad experience !!

2 main grievances :1. Contacted reservation 8 months in advance. Many email exchanges on room rates, dates etc. We finalised the date with the reservation team in Jul and concluded that i would use my miserable leftover points to offset a room upgrade. One week before our arrival (we started our 1st leg of holiday in Seoul), i received an email to reconfirm my stay. I thought it was just a mere reconfirmation, so i replied with a yes. Upon check in, i was snapped with a much higher rates which was not what we agreed upon. They said they will check backend. When they reverted, they said because i ''agreed'' to the email i replied a week earlier, (which if i had scrolled further down, there was a rate breakdown). I explained who would have thought when everything was already confirmed and agreed, that the reservation team would have used a different rate than our agreed rate we finalised in Jul? What was disappointing was that they insist that i have to ''bear'' the consequence of the email i replied even when i showed them my email correspondence. They insisted i had to pay the original rate (higher) without any compromising even with proofs. Resending to reservation team to clarify during my stay went complete silence. The way things were handled was very unprofessional from their end. I felt scammed.2. Housekeeping left the toilet choked after cleaning the room. There was no effect to do a quality check before they left the room.All in all, i felt that the hotel of this high standard would have done better but the way they handled my dispute on room rate let us very disappointed. It just ruined our stay there.
