My family and I stayed at Quintessa Hotel for 6 days. The location is very convenient-just a 5-minute walk from Nakajima Park, where there are bus stops offering direct services to New Chitose Airport. The hotel is also right across from both Lawson and Seicomart, making it easy to grab snacks or anything else we needed at any time. The rooms were spacious and clean throughout our stay. We enjoyed the breakfast, and they served the best Hokkaido butter. The only downside was the breakfast menu didn't change much from day to day.The staff were friendly and nice.

Did you enjoy the cold Hokkaido winter? For those of you who don't usually see snow, it must have been a surprise. The cold weather is also good for the tasty food. Please come visit Hokkaido again. As for the breakfast buffet, we offer a wide variety of dishes every day. Our concept is to let you choose what you like by yourself. Have you found something you like? We look forward to seeing you again in Hokkaido! Thanks for your comment!Quintessa Hotel Sapporo

Moldy

I'll explain the 1 star in a bit...The staff were all great. Nice and respectful. We arrived after driving our rental from the airport. There was no parking and had to park across the street at the paid parking. It sounded like it was far but it wasn't. The charge for parking at the lot is similar to parking at the hotel. The next day they had reserved us a spot to park on the premises. To keep your spot though...make sure you move the Reserve cone back to block the space when you leave. That will help in reserving your space. We didn't have any help with our luggage and had to bring it out of the car, into the hotel, and to our room. Normally that's something that can be overlooked. But we had bags after staying in Kyoto and sightseeing for a week. The entryway and lobby all looked nice.Check-in was nice and easy. The hallway and room though...this is where the 1 star comes in.Back story...my wife is a cancer survivor and can be sensitive to certain smells and such.BLACK MOLD!SPOILED FOOD!There is a window (so I thought) in the shower area. Curiosity got me and I opened it to find black mold growing like crazy! Broken/chipping building material, and water-soaked!Behind the tub and in the grout were signs of mold also. The hallway windows in the corner looked like they had mold growth or some dark grime in the corners. The place was just a nightmare. But not a complete nightmare if that makes sense. The air conditioning is hardly ever working. The air purifier helped little.Whenever we came back from our outings...the smell of something fermented festered throughout the hallway and room. One night there were sounds like a club was happening above. The beds were nice...but the pillows also smelled like they were old. Ended up swapping out multiple pillows to get comfortable. We were in the room at the very end of the building closest to the Lawson's side. The location was a good spot because it's a couple blocks from the main center area where all the action happens. If they were to clean this up and refine it...I'd go back.Next time though...I might spend more for a different spot.

Nice hotel with polite and friendly staff

Quintessa Hotel Sapporo 23 Feb to 7 Mar 2019Reception was professional and quick. The staff are polite, friendly and do their best to communicate with limited english. It would help if I spoke Japanese, but sadly I don’t. The room was large as booked and met expectations. While the size is reasonable compared to many others in Japan, the configuration is just adequate being long and narrow, with limited windows. The bathroom was large and had a separate shower and bath. A warm toilet seat is a great touch in a very cold environment especially in a cold February winter. The bathroom is well appointed. Wifi worked well and is complimentary with our room. The TV is of a good size, but did not have any English speaking channels. There were about six Japanese-only channels. They play nice soothing, mostly American, music in the public areas. Location was ok and about 10-15 minutes easy walking to the city centre. Unfortunately in February and March many of the footpaths can be covered in snow making walking a challenge with many slippery sections. Be careful. I didn’t see nor use the Concierge services. Airconditioning is a bit noisy at night and can be heard while trying to sleep. However, it works well and keeps the room warm. The room rate was well below normal due to it being winter and the Coronavirus which has stopped many tourists. Overall a pleasant experience thanks to the friendly staff. Happy to stay here again. Thank you.

worth the stay!

we spent 4 nites at this hotel. 2 Convenient stores right in front of the hotel; super convenient! 4 min walk to the nearest subway station and 3 stops to Sapporo station. We had the family room and it fits in comfortably for4 single beds. The room and the toilet are super clean! noted that the hotel just did a renovation. Everything smell and feel new and clean! Weakness - the pillows too small and uncomfortable, we asked for extra pillows. Also, there is no bell boy to assist with the luggage, no room services, anything u need, u need to go down to the front desk to ask for support.

Good house keeping, location convenience, 5 minutes walked to the subway station, breakfast items mainly for Japanese people, not Western but it's nice without sausage or bacon. Reception are polite and helpful, their English still below average but they do try everything is possible.
