  Good breakfast, Sky Spa and location, but overall one of my worst hotel stays in Japan

  Dear traveler, if you prefer a mild and comfortable sleep, I'm afraid you may want to reconsider booking this hotel.Breakfast was tasty, the location was convenient, and the Sky Spa was pleasant — and that’s where the positives end.The main issue was the bedding. The down quilt was far too thick and hot for November, and I could barely sleep. This was especially odd because another Candeo property I stayed at in Spring didn’t use down quilts, so the “year-round” explanation simply doesn’t hold.I went to the front desk twice to ask for a lighter option, but the staff were completely inflexible. Whether it was giving me a duvet cover or telling me to turn on the air-conditioning in autumn just to counter the quilt, both responses were equally useless and frankly absurd.Service didn’t help either. There was no attempt to escalate the issue, and communication with the male staff member was difficult even for simple requests.Despite the good breakfast, convenient location, and nice Sky Spa, the stay was uncomfortable and frustrating. I won’t be returning to this Candeo branch.

  Location is in front of Motomachi Station and a short walk to Motomachi shopping street, Daimaru, etc.We were unimpressed by two female employees at front desk with the name tags Rue and Moe—both were indifferent and cold, they would do well with more customer service training. However, we later interacted with another female employee with the name tag Rio A who was super sweet and attentive.The condition of the room was still pretty new, it was a decent size with a comfortable seating area and king bed. Cleanliness was adequate aside from the seat cushions which looked a bit dusty and dirty.Room door wasn't soundproof so it can be noisy if other guests are talking in the hallway but soundproofing to adjacent rooms seemed good. There was no air purifier but the air-conditioner was strong. Bottled water was provided every day.There were two coin-operated combo washer/dryer machines but we were disappointed to see that the hotel had greedily increased the standard pricing from 400-500 to 700-800 JPY.

  Unpleasant Room Odor - we got sick after 1 night

  We change our room due to an intense humidity. Front desk team checked for us and agreed to change the room.The odor in the room is comparable to when you forget your humid laundry in the Washing machine for a while.As we changed the room and it had the same issue, we decided to leave and come back later, finding the same smell after we came back.We believe that room are not being aired or air-conditioning is not being cleaned properly. Please check the pictures.We stayed one night and the next morning we woke up with running nose and feeling sick.LocationNext to the commercial area. Plenty shopping options.Also 15 Mins to the bay.Check-in and Check-out Experience:Ease and efficiency of the process.Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.Room:Small room with good layout.  and comfortable.(Wi-Fi, TV, fridge).Views from the room are poor. Mainly alleys or back side of some buildingsmService:Overall staff behavior is fine and basic. Not surprises. And we expected better service quality from a candeo hotel.We kindly ask for extra 15 minutes after the checkout time (11am) and politely they offer a charge of 2,500 yen.It is a shame they could not help with extra time. When check-in time is 3pm.4 hours to clean a room is large. Probably they are making cost cutting and overworking their staff.Value for Money:Comparison to similar hotels we got a good price. But they are not at the candeo hotel standards.Overall Impression:We are loyal to candela hotels and we don't recommend this business unit. Even we like their spa / public baths area.Photos:Check the room and air-conditioning mold pictures.

  Delicious breakfast, enjoyable stay!

  Excellent location for a stay in Kobe - located convenient near Sannomiya station and near Nankinmachi (Kobe's Chinatown), there is no shortage of shops or food around. Breakfast is popular with timed sittings and the food is the reason why - go for the scrambled eggs, you'll want more.

  I agree with previous reviews : good location, rooms with a “home” feeling thanks to the innovative lay out, and I love public baths.This was my grandson’s favorite hotel of our trip. He loved watching youtube, going to “onsen” after getting a child sized yukata, maybe also because we found Horai food sold in the nearby supermarket.
