Old but comfortable hotel with great amenities

    rating28 Oct 2025

This is the first time I am staying at a Daiwa Roynet franchise, and the check-in process is a bit unique to me. I was given a room card by the counter staff but not the room number, and need to self-register at one of the check-in system, which will then print out a receipt with room number indicated on it. The counter staff will also request patron to provide a pin number, for verification in case the card is lost. Check-in by the way, begins 2pm (check-out 11am), but they are happy to hold your luggage if you arrive early.I must say I am impressed by the spacious semi-double room for 1 pax, there is ample space for opening luggage. The toilet is considerably big compare to most other business hotels I had stayed in Japan. The room looks aged, with a relatively small 32" Mitsubishi LCD TV, and a remote control that can only partially work, no response on certain buttons. I'm fine with that since I only stay 1 night there. The hotel provides good amenities at the lift lobby, which include comb, shaver, beauty lotions, toothbrush, tea bags, drip coffee etc. This 10-storey hotel does offer coin laundry service at 5F (from 300 Yen, depending on weight, no detergent required. Drying 100 Yen), ice cube & vending machines on 2F & 8F (microwave machines at 2F, 5F, 8F). It is some 10 mins walk from JR Sannomiya station, but can be literally considered barrier free from the train station. There are a handful of convenience stores in the vicinity, and Coco Ichibanya curry restaurant just across the street, there are other restaurants further away, and more around JR Sannomiya station area. However, be aware there is another Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kobe Sannomiya 'Premier' some 600m away, which is newer, more centralise, and naturally more costly. Don't be surprise there are patrons who book the wrong hotel, went to the wrong hotel, and review the wrong hotel.Overall, I am happy with my stay, and will return here in the next couple of months.

    Good location near Sannomiya

Found a good deal for this hotel to include New Years Eve.Very easy walk from Sannomiya east exit.Look for McDonalds…walk in front of it and turn right.Walk straight until you see Family Mart on the corner…the hotel is next door! There are 3 convenience stores within 50 meters of the hotel.Double room was small for 2 with the bed against the wall but comfortable. The restaurant attached to the hotel has closed so no breakfast plan.Would stay again if the price were right!

Good option in the Kobe Sannomiya area

    rating30 Mar 2019

I am starting to really enjoy the consistency of the Daiwa Roynet chain of hotels. When looking for options in Kobe, I immediately selected Daiwa Roynet Kobe Sannomiya. It was reasonably priced and looked to be in the middle of everything in Kobe.Like some of the other reviewers mentioned, the walk from the Sannomiya train station is a bit further than it appears. It still isn't more than 10 to 15 minutes but keep that in mind if you are dragging around suitcases like I was. I enjoy the walk and the distance from the train station meant that it was also quieter. The hotel itself was like the other Daiwa that I have stayed at. Check-in was fast and friendly. Check-out was even faster as you just do it at the machine. The lady checking me in did not speak English as fluently but was able to communicate. However, when I asked her for a restaurant recommendation, all she could do was show me a pamphlet with a list of restaurants. It isn't a problem, she isn't a concierge and I certainly wasn't expecting one.The room itself was big enough for one person. My two luggage did require a little bit of tetris to make sure they don't get in the way. Everything was clean and functional. There just isn't a lot of wasted space at these hotels. Just as importantly, the internet was fast! The location meant that you were a short 10 to 15 minute walk from all the main restaurants. If you are looking for Kobe beef, there are probably 8 to 10 reputable restaurants within walking distance.I would definitely recommend the Daiwa Roynet and would stay there again if I were in Kobe.

    Brilliant!

    rating12 Dec 2018

We stayed a week in this impressive hotel. The hotel is near Kyoto train station and located close to everything. Apart from the hard beds, (our preference is for a soft mattress), we loved our stay here. The room was well-appointed, spacious, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was luxurious. The rain shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure. We probably stayed a bit too long under it! The hotel is beautiful and tranquil in all aspects; from the gigantic lobby, to the individually styled elevators, to the whisper quiet corridors, to the relaxing executive lounge and serene rooms. Everything is done by the staff to ensure a peaceful and relaxing stay. The staff were exceptional – professional, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, polite – I could go on. Suffice it to say the staff are highly trained and expert at their jobs. We had some delicious meals in the Italian restaurant – yes, I know, Italian! However, the hotel is purely Japanese and decorated beautifully. My husband even took a picture of the ceiling in the lobby – it was so gorgeous. We enjoyed our stay here immensely and can confidently recommend this hotel to others.

Walking distance from station but further than expected. Situated close to shopping and restaurants but rooms were small. Tidy and clean hotel with reasonable breakfast. Very nice burger restaurant on hotel side of station
