    The best choice!

    rating26 Jul 2026

I much enjoyed a three-night stay in a spacious and pleasant double room - my eighth time at this hotel. I keep returning because of all the advantages - lovely views, helpful and efficient staff, good food, comfortable and practical accommodation, and the perfect location. The JR Station is just across the plaza, Takamatsu Castle just across the road, the Seto Inland Sea and the port right there, Takamatsu-Chikko station (which you can use to reach Risturin garden) nearby, short walk to the Kagawa Museum or the city's huge shopping arcade, plentiful taxis and buses right outside, and many stores and eateries in the immediate surrounds. From Takamatsu it's easy to visit the art islands, and/or do a whole lot of interesting day trips. As a Japanese castle fan I always request a view of the castle, and usually it's possible for the staff to arrange it. This time I had what I think was the best view ever, the floor I was on was the perfect height, not too high or too low, and I was able to see all the castle structures in nice detail as well as the whole including the cute reconstructed belltower by the shore. And, the sea and part of the port as well! It was great! In the room there was a decent-sized, well-lit desk, ample storage and clothes hanging space, enough room for all my luggage without having to constantly circumvent it, a fridge,a safe and a TV. I slept well. No problems with the WiFi. The bath had handy metal bars for lifting oneself in and out, and there was a retractable clothesline above it. Complimentary items included quality facial products, daily newspapers, teabags and drip coffee bags, slippers, and bottled water. PJs for use during one's stay.Thank you very much, and I'm looking forward to returning>Thanks so much

    Step back in time

    rating17 Jun 2026

This hotel is like a step back in time. I believe it opened in 2001 and it looks like it! It appears that the furnishing and decoration is the same as when it opened. There is nothing wrong with that of course, it just appears a little tired. The staff were nice and helpful when asked. We stayed in a Corner Deluxe room which was fairly spacious and quiet and comfortable enough and had a view over the castle ruins. It appeared to us that the majority of their business is tour groups, so breakfast was very competitive and certainly not the quiet start to the day I prefer, the food was ok but very much cafeteria style. They even issue tickets for your breakfast when you check in to be handed over each day. The location is very good, just a stroll across from the JR station and also the local train which is handy for getting around. Being close to the station there are restaurants nearby. I believe there will be a Mandarin Oriental Hotel opening in Takamatsu in the next year or so which will put pressure on this hotel.

    Corner deluxe twin room??

    rating18 May 2026

The hotel is very grand and the location is excellent- across from both the train station and the ferry terminal. Our room was spacious and comfortable and I loved the pyjamas. I give this a four rating rather than a five because we did not get the view we paid for. Our bathroom overlooks the train station and the bedroom view had a sliver view of the port.

    Very comfortable, great breakfast buffet

    rating08 Feb 2026

I was here for three nights, and booked the room directly through the hotel website, which worked well. Their website gives the best description of the available rooms. There is quite a variety of rooms in terms of size, so it's worth checking out the descriptions. My room was a deluxe single. It was quite large (certainly much larger than most single rooms in Japan), had a lot of USB outlets, a great seating area and good workdesk area, and good closet space. Overall it was a very nice room. Oddly, checkin time is quite late, at 6 PM, at least according to the reservation. This might have been inconvenient, as the bus arrived in Takamatsu before noon. However, they were happy to store luggage at the front desk, so I could go exploring during the afternoon and check in when I returned.Location is excellent, right by the harbour and the train and bus stations. My rate included breakfast; the breakfast buffet at the hotel was very good, and the breakfast room was not crowded. It is worthwhile to have an ID with the JR Hotel chain, and possibly book directly from the hotel website. They often have special deals on room rates for stays of three nights, or special rates which include breakfast. These rates will most often not show up on other booking sites. I would definitely stay here again if the rate was acceptable.

    Convenient with great views

    rating10 Dec 2025

Wonderful views over the Seto Inland Sea from rooms on the curved side of the building. Very convenient for the train station and for ferries to the island, such as Naoshima. Short walk to the main sights. Across the road from the castle gardem. Rooms themselves are OK, but old-fashioned. For example, there is a knob in the bathroom for controlling the TV sound. I didn't try it, and I assume it doesn't work for modern TVs. European style breakfasts are poor.
