Kyoto is ok for short visit

    rating29 Apr 2026

Stayed here at the modern Kyoto Mplus for 3 nights and couldn’t wait to move on. We found the small room really claustrophobic and the bathroom steamed the whole place up, I had to crab walk along the bed to get round it, couldn’t open the window which looked at a dark industrial wall, we never knew what the weather was until we got outside, no breakfast offered and only chargeable coffee , thank goodness for a McDonalds across the road to grab a buttie, wife wasn’t impressed but it was better than nothing, we did the sights by taxi which isn’t cheap but it was a quick way to do it, the hotel is across the road from the tube station but we found getting there by tube was a stressful nightmare, thank god a local took pity on us and guided us or don’t know where we would have ended up, taxi next time, we went to the bamboo forest, it’s right out of the city , expensive in a taxi and underwhelmingly small. Wouldn’t bother it again really. Temples were nice and went to the castle in the middle of Kyoto, about a mile straight down from the hotel is a big old market which is worth a look

    Basic ...but good value

    rating24 Apr 2026

This place had hostel vibes but it is clean and tidy. It was extremely basic but there again it was cheap. The coffee area on the ground floor was always clean and orderly and nice for a budget accommodation. You get what you pay for. But the basic standard was high. Reception staff were REALLY HELPFUL. They even provided us with an adapter for our phone. Iron was supplied if needed. We stayed here as our friends budget was tight and we wanted to stay at the same location as them. We normally only stay in 5 star accommodation and was fearful we would hate it here. But the staff...and the fabulous location right next to the station ... literally 3 min walk and of course...the price...made it an ...alright stay. You have to compare ...what you pay against what you get and this place was extremely good value. If you are in a tight budget and want a nice basic place to stay thats clean and tidy with extremely helpful staff, very close to the station this is the place for you

    Window without view

    rating21 Jun 2025

Location was extremely great, a few minutes from train stations, with many shops, convenience stores around. Staff was friendly and could speak English very well. Room was basic but smaller than expected, even we had stayed so many hotels in Japan before. There was a window in my room but no actual view.

    Good location - small hotel!

    rating28 May 2025

This best thing about this hotel is its location, located conveniently near the train and bus stations with 7-11s and Marts less than 50m away! The rooms however, extremely small and not well thought out, no location to store bags (under the bed not an option) therefore no moving space. The internet did not work in our room. But for a good location and a bed to sleep in this hotel does the trick! Handy to have the lounge area downstairs with some tables and chairs to escape your shoebox! Staff always extremely helpful - you cannot fault the staff.

    Quiet, Clean, and Well-Located

    rating28 Apr 2025

We stayed at Hotel M for three nights in April 2025. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a friendly staff member who made the check-in process quick and seamless. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.Our particular room lacked natural light, as the window was located behind the bathroom sink mirror. While this might sound like a drawback, the room's quiet and dark environment actually contributed to an excellent night's sleep. Two often-overlooked highlights worth mentioning: the shower had excellent water pressure, and the hotel-provided pajamas were both comfortable and charming. We chose this hotel primarily for its convenient location near Shijo-Omiya Station and easy access to the Hankyu and Randen train lines. The surrounding neighborhood offers a wide range of dining options, along with a Family Mart and a 7-Eleven — perfect for picking up travel essentials or a late-night snack.
