    Nice stay

    rating03 Jun 2026

We stayed in a privilege room for 3 nights and found the room generally comfortable although lack of hanging space and drawers was a little strange. Amenities were all very good and the room was very clean. The hotel design is nice but it does feel like it is primarily used for huge tour groups and there was continuously large volumes of luggage taking up a lot of space in the lobby. We seemed to see a new very large group arrive and leave each day of our stay. The tour groups also meant breakfast was a little chaotic and we felt for the staff who seemed a little overwhelmed. With a privilege room we had access to snacks and free flow drinks from 2.30pm to 5pm which was nice we did notice however quite a few times that people were rather unhygienic picking up food with their hands rather than the tongs so that put us off eating. Not a fault of the hotel as tongs were provided, more the travellers themselves. The staff we encountered were all very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent for the train station and as we were doing day trips this was a plus point. It was very quiet at night and we slept well. Overall we had a good stay, would I stay again, maybe not as it felt more of a hotel for large groups. Mercure Kyoto Station, Marketing at Mercure Kyoto Station, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding your stay at Mercure Kyoto Station. We are pleased to hear that you found your Privilege Room comfortable, clean, and well-equipped, and that you enjoyed the Privilege Lounge benefits as well as our convenient location near Kyoto Station. Very bad experience

    rating21 Apr 2026

Our family had a very bad experience at Mercure Kyoto Station. We were traveling with children, and the behaviour of the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional.Even though our booking was already confirmed, we were overcharged. On top of that, gifts were being given to other children, but when our kids approached, the staff spoke to them very rudely and drove them away. This was upsetting and humiliating for us as parents. This is not the kind of service we expected from such a hotel. The lack of courtesy and respect, especially toward children, left us with a very poor impression. FO FO, Sales at Mercure Kyoto Station, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely regret that your stay did not meet your expectations.Regarding the additional charges, please allow us to clarify that the Kyoto City Accommodation Tax is a mandatory local tax required for all guests staying in Kyoto City, and it is collected separately from the room rate.In addition, with regard to breakfast charges for children, these are applied in accordance with our hotel’s breakfast policy, which is clearly stated at the time of booking. We would like to assure you that no overcharge was made, and all charges were applied based on the agreed terms of your reservation. We also regret to hear your concerns regarding the children’s gift. Our team provides gifts fairly to all eligible families, and to ensure fairness for all guests, we follow a policy of providing one gift per family. According to our records, your family had already received one. We are sorry if our explanation at the time caused any misunderstanding. Please be assured that our team members are trained to treat all guests, including children, with courtesy and respect. We will continue to review our communication to ensure that our explanations are delivered in a more considerate manner.Mercure Front Office Team

Great Location and Exceptional Staff Support for Families!

    rating07 Apr 2026

Our family (2 adults and 2 children, ages 12 & 15) recently stayed at Mercure Kyoto Station during our 12-day "Japan Family Adventure". The hotel's location is excellent, being within easy walking distance of both a laundry/convenience store and the main Kyoto Station, which made our daily travels very efficient and also not forget the luggage forwarding service. The Service:The check-in experience was lovely. Matthew (who is from the USA) and a Japanese staff member whose name starts with 'C' were incredibly helpful. They assisted us in booking an extra night when we realized we had mistakenly only booked for two nights instead of three, and they even helped me retrieve my Accor membership number. Matthew continued to be a great help throughout our stay, assisting us with luggage forwarding (Takkyubin) and providing umbrellas when needed. The Rooms:We requested and were provided with two interconnected rooms. One was a twin room, which was spacious and well-appointed. The second room had a queen bed but was designed more like an accessible room for a wheelchair user, which made it feel a bit different from the other.Dining:Breakfast: The breakfast was wonderful with a very large spread. A special kudos goes to the dining staff, who were always smiling and ready to assist our family.Room Service/Amenities: One minor disappointment was when we needed a plate and spoon. We were told the restaurant was a separate entity, and I had to personally go down to the restaurant to collect them myself.Overall Experience:Despite the small inconvenience regarding the restaurant, the helpfulness of the staff and the spaciousness of the twin room made this a great base for our time in Kyoto. The ease of forwarding our large bags from Tokyo to this hotel was a major plus for our family trip! Mercure Kyoto Station, Marketing at Mercure Kyoto Station, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you very much for your stay and for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review of your experience at Mercure Kyoto Station. We are truly delighted to hear that you and your family had a memorable stay with us during your Japan adventure. Smell is too much. Highly perfumed, annoying music throughout hotel lobby, restaurant and guest room hallways. Knic knac

    rating12 Feb 2026

Overpowering perfume smell in lobby, too much stuff everywhere gathering dust and annoying music all the time in common areas. Dark, dim room with odd accoutrements - weird side table with fake pullout drawer for electronic ports and lights. Breakfast buffet very expensive and not great for lean protein sources. Didn’t like this hotel. FO FO, Sales at Mercure Kyoto Station, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your candid feedback regarding your recent stay.We are truly sorry to hear that the scent in the lobby and public areas felt overpowering and that the background music and overall atmosphere did not meet your expectations. While our aroma design and music are intended to create a distinctive ambiance, we understand that preferences vary, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We will carefully review the intensity of the fragrance and volume levels to ensure a more balanced environment. We also regret that the room lighting and design details did not feel comfortable for you. Your comments regarding the furnishings and layout are valuable, and we will share them with our management team for consideration.Regarding breakfast, we are sorry that you did not find the selection satisfactory, particularly in terms of lean protein options and value. We will review your feedback with our culinary team as we continuously work to improve our offerings.Although we are disappointed to learn that your overall experience was not enjoyable, we sincerely appreciate your honest feedback, as it helps us improve. We hope there may be an opportunity in the future to provide you with a more comfortable and satisfying stay.Warm regards,Mercure Front Office Team

    Modern design & convenient location

    rating06 Feb 2026

Very conveniently located (about a 7 - 10 minute walk from Kyoto station). The hotel has a modern design and the rooms are very comfortable. We had a room on a higher floor with a view of the Kyoto tower - which was a very nice view to have in the night. Breakfast spread is good with a wide set of options. FO FO, Sales at Mercure Kyoto Station, responded to this review Dear valued guest,Thank you very much for your wonderful feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our convenient location, modern design, comfortable room, and breakfast selection. It is also lovely to know that you were able to enjoy the night view of Kyoto Tower from your room.
