Wonderful Stay and thanks to SAWAMURA SAN

    rating30 Apr 2026

THE PRINCE TAKARAGAIKE HOTEL MARCH 27 TO APRIL 01/2026My family had a wonderful stay at the Prince Takaragaike Kyoto hotel. We booked 2 rooms and as a Titanium Bonvoy member my room received a nice upgrade and both rooms were on the same floor nearby! The very large suite & room were very clean with fresh linen, comfortable mattress and great shower and bathtub. The minibar was well stocked and a nice coffee machine with capsules was provided. The view from the very large windows was right into nature! The hotel has a beautiful 360° circular design and its next to a park and not far from many temples. The subway is next to the hotel and took us into kyoto station directly in about 15 minutes. We really enjoyed coming back from the crowded city into the peaceful setting of the Prince! The executive lounge served a nice breakfast and evening drinks. We enjoyed the lobby bar which was a real traditional place to have a nice cocktail. We had dinner at the main restaurant and the wagyu steak was fantastic. We also enjoyed the symbolic Teahouse which is located on the large hotel grounds fir nice photo shooting!Service throughout the hotel was impeccable and friendly at all times and a special THANK YOU to SAWAMURA SAN (Assistant Manager/Concierge) who was checking us in and gave us fantastic advice during our 5 night stay.Highly recommended and we will stay again for our next Kyoto trip!

Beautiful property very close to the station so easy access of travelling and exploring Kyoto and Nara. Lovely rooms and have a beautiful tea house within hotel. We had a comfortable stay.

All in all and Okayish experience.

    rating08 Apr 2026

The hotel's claim to fame is about it being situated in front of an international conference center otherwise it is quite far from the main city in a foresty area. It has a quirky architecture i.e. completely round so if your room is not close to lifts then its a long walk to the room. The hotel appears a little dated but broadly all right. The bed was comfortable and sleep quality was good. The bathroom toiletries were well appointed and of good quality. The breakfast area and breakfast stuff were just adequate, definitely not lavish.

Cost savings taken way too far

    rating18 Feb 2026

We stayed here a couple of years ago and loved it. Despite other reviews, we loved the location. The subway station is only 5 minutes away, north Kyoto provides a tranquil, quiet and relaxing vibe, and the opening windows in the room for plenty of fresh air is a nice touch.However. In the elapsed 2 years, they have closed the Chinese restaurant. They have closed the Japanese restaurant where you previously could choose to have breakfast. The breakfast in the "club lounge" has about half the variety as 2 years ago. The afternoon/ evening service is quite literally an embarrassment. No more white spirits, and food is not replenished. The whole experience felt cheap and the cost cutting has, in my opinion, been taken way too far.

    Close to convention centre

    rating03 Feb 2026

Renovated hotel, great location for meetings as the convention centre is just in front, and close to a subway station. Beautiful location in the forest, but totally isolated. Nice size bedrooms with bathrooms that need to be updated. Two restaurants onsite offering buffet breakfast but mainly Japanese items. Coffee was not good. Only one restaurant open at night with very limited Japanese options. As the hotel is far from the city we took Uber or taxis, most of the time having difficulties because: they could not find the hotel (even with GPS) or the taxi was not taking credit cards as payments. This is a Marriott hotel but because we did the booking through the congress they did not give us the points. So be careful if you are staying here for a meeting, perhaps is better to book directly the hotel. It was a lot of points that we did not get.
