Exceptional hotel willing to go the extra mile

    rating28 Jul 2025

We stayed four nights in this hotel in two adjoining rooms with a connecting door, a really convenient feature. Although the rooms are a bit dated, they are spacious and comfortable. The only downside is that the duvets do not have fully enclosed covers.Breakfast is very good and offers a wide selection of food. It was quite crowded and a bit chaotic on the first two days, as it was a long weekend in Japan, but the staff managed the situation well. The hot baths are clean and relaxing, with a well-organised changing room. The swimming pools, which include a small water slide, are fun for the kids. The hotel is located a little outside the busiest area of the city but within easy walking distance from both the shops and the remote island pier. There are also a number of excellent restaurants on the road outside the hotel. We tried a dumpling place and an izakaya, both of which were exceptional. What impressed us the most about this hotel was the help we received from the General Manager on our last day. We were expecting an important document to arrive by courier, but unfortunately, it had not arrived by the time we checked out. The General Manager was very kind and offered to personally deliver the document to our next hotel. In the end, we received the document once we arrived at our next hotel. It was a truly thoughtful gesture and we were very grateful for it.Other highlights: folk song performance in the evening, you receive vouchers if you opt for eco cleaning

    Pleasant surprise - classy

    rating12 Jul 2025

Great surprise - a City Hotel which isn’t quite in the city, but you can walk there in 20 min or take a taxi for 5 dollars (500 Yen). Also, a shuttle bus takes you several times a day to a very nice beach partner hotel. I’d say 4-star level (think “Crowne Plaza” if you know the IHG chain); my real happiness started when we found three real beds in our triple room, not just two beds and a sofa-bed as it is way too often other places. Breakfast is ok, you probably like it best if you like traditional Japanese breakfast (there are other things, too).

A very nice stay and value for money

    rating01 May 2023

We arrived by car too late to get a car park at the hotel so we had to park about 100ms away down a side street. The room was fine. It had a good view and was very cleanThe breakfast was delicious and served in a nice room with a garden view. It was busy but the staff were excellent and the tables were turned over promptly. We loved the" save the planet" initiative and in fact were able to buy two tiny pieces of pottery with our coupons just for not having everything washed and changed. The pottery was from the excellent gift shop in the lobby which was actually the best I saw on my trip to Japan. There was also a small grocery shop in the lobby. It was a shortish walk to the ferry and main drag. There were eating options available across the road. We would recommend the dumpling place. They had take away coffee and doughnuts if you wished for breakfast. We would stay here again. アートホテル 石垣島, お客様サービス / フロント オフィス at Art Hotel Ishigakijima, responded to this review Dear Winnie551 san,Thank you very much for your review on your recent stay with us.We were delighted to hear that you enjoyed staing with us, and shopping the Okinawa traditional pottery; YACHIMUN. Hotel on the edge of the city centre

    rating05 Jun 2020

I had a good sized room with a table & 2 chairs. There was a large luggage rack which would fit 2 small cases. There was a clothing hanging area. The bed had a duvet cover which was dirty so I had to get it changed. It wasn't changed daily because there was an under sheet so I am not sure how often the duvet cover is washed. There was a tempura/foam pillow & a normal feather one. Unfortunately the large TV only had Japanese channels. There was a fridge and a large safe. The bathroom was quite a good size but they only provided a smallish towel. The water was very soft. The bath was quite shallow (more like an American bath than a deep Japanese one). The hotel only provided bottled water on 1st night despite the fact I stayed for 5 nights! There was a very good buffet breakfast with an extensive choice of admittedly mostly Japanese food. However there were croissants, fruit, soft scrambled eggs and a coffee machine. Staff spoke limited English. It was a 20 mins walk to to the port for boat trips to other islands. There were a few restaurants opposite the hotel. The pool closes in November which is a pity because it's still quite hot. There was a small hotel shop with a few necessities and tourist items. The airport bus stops at hotel and you can also catch a bus from the hotel to visit Kabila bay (but they are not frequent!). The hotel does provide a shuttle to the airport but it's very infrequent. There was some noise from other guests next door & in the corridor. The hotel seemed popular with large groups. art-hotel-ishigaki, マネージャー at Art Hotel Ishigakijima, responded to this review Dear Mr./Ms. Thumbelina2Thank you for stay with us.We will work about what you pointing out .thank you.Sincerely .Art Hotel Ishigakijima Manager Daisuke Ishizuka
