    Generic beach resort

    rating31 Mar 2026

This is one of the most overrated hotel I’ve ever been to. How this hotel is one of the highest ranked hotel on IKYU is just beyond me. Check-in was slow and arrival experience was subpar, I was tired from my flight and ride from the airport and still had to wait half an hour… Not real luxury… The airport pickup didn’t hold the hotel sign and I had to look for him. It was extremely crowded with kids, and other assorted horrible clientele from overseas.Gave me an extremely low floored and badly located room at first which I didn’t like because anyone can see into it. I had to pay extra to have a high floored room. The furnishings weren’t great either, the sofa was rock hard and the others were starting to show their age. Can’t believe the public areas of this hotel look so much older than a hotel that only opened in 2019. The room I got with a paid upgrade was just that much better than my first one, with a better view and better furniture. The receptionist at first told me that “no room is available”, apparently it is, just not for free. The food was OK, but just exhorbitantly priced, even more than Tokyo. The staff spoke not great English as they kept pronouncing my very common English name very wrong… and the telephone operators were so rude you won’t believe you’re in Japan. Come here if you like screaming kids or lots of americans:)

Luxury Family Stay in Okinawa – Exceptional Service, Stunning Rooms, and Worth Every Yen

    rating29 Mar 2026

Halekulani Okinawa was, hands down, the most luxurious and memorable resort we experienced during our time in Japan. We traveled as a family of four with two young teens and decided to splurge on two rooms in the Sunset Beach Tower, which made the stay incredibly comfortable for everyone. The rooms were beautifully designed and felt truly high end. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, from the stocked minibar and Nespresso machine to the beach bags and sandals you can take home. The provided pajamas were a great touch and added to the overall comfort. Housekeeping was excellent with daily service plus evening turndown, which made coming back to the room each night feel special. What really sets this resort apart is the service. The staff throughout Halekulani Okinawa were consistently warm, polite, and incredibly attentive. They went out of their way to make sure our family felt welcomed and taken care of.Dining was another highlight. We had dinner at House Without a Key, which offered a relaxed setting with great seafood, pasta, and salads, and Steak & Wine for a more elevated experience. The food quality at both was excellent. Steak & Wine is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality and experience matched the cost. Be sure to make dinner reservations in advance, as they open daily and fill up quickly. We didn’t pre-book and had to work around limited time slots. We chose to explore local cafés for breakfast, which ended up being a fun way to experience Okinawa beyond the resort. There are also several great dining options nearby if you have a rental car.The pool areas were beautiful and well maintained, and the gym had everything we needed. The entire property felt peaceful, clean, and very family friendly without losing its luxury feel.If you are looking for a five star luxury resort in Okinawa that delivers exceptional service, beautiful rooms, and a memorable overall experience, Halekulani Okinawa is absolutely worth it. We would gladly return.

    Dream holidays in Okinawa

    rating18 Nov 2025

My husband and I spent a week at Halekulani Okinawa, and I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Even though a typhoon passed through while we were there, the warmth and care of the staff made our stay extraordinary. It happened to be my birthday week, and the team went above and beyond to make me feel special. The nightly letters from housekeeping were such a touching surprise, and the thoughtful birthday card made my day. These small gestures made the hotel feel personal, comforting, and incredibly welcoming. Our room was beautiful and peaceful, and the concierge team gave us wonderful advice and support throughout our stay — especially given the changing weather. We also loved every meal we had at Shiroux — the food and the kindness of the staff made dinner and breakfast feel like an experience.A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for making my birthday week so beautiful. I can’t wait to come back. 🌺💛

BOOK the afternoon tea that's for guests & visitors too

    rating16 Nov 2025

Unfortunately we didn't stay here but we did visit for a most exquisite afternoon tea. It was exceptional in every way. Spectra Sunset Bar was the setting and we were all facing out to the ocean beyond on super comfortable lounges. Our welcome drink was sublime. An extensive tea and coffee menu with unlimited repeats! Then the food. Delicate delectables that blended the best Okinawan ingredients to perfection. The jewel box was a novel presentation twist. Every savoury and sweet item was a discovery taste tour. Service throughout the high tea was on point and the staff spoke English too. There was nothing rushed and we took our time and soaked it all in. Many photos later we said goodbye. Terrific value for the high tea experience that we enjoyed.

Beautiful hotel but some significant drawbacks considering the price

    rating27 Sept 2025

We just spent 4 days at Halekulani Okinawa and I wish I would have read some the reviews closer as I see a lot the cons I have written are mentioned by others. Pros: - Beautiful rooms, we stayed in the sunset wing and had beautiful views of the ocean. Room was spacious, bright and well maintained - The staff couldn’t be any warmer and welcoming - The sunset bar made amazing cocktails, we went nightly before dinner and really enjoyed ourselves - the hotel grounds are beautiful and the sea views are incredible - beautiful spa with excellent facilities Cons: - long wait times with a QR code for breakfast. We submitted a request for breakfast one morning at 8:30am and only got our table at 9:50am when we’re told it would be a 45 min wait originally. - very big hotel meaning lots of people trying to get spots for breakfast, lunch and dinner reservations. This led to a significant amount of stress to our days at the hotel. This was our last stop to our holiday around Japan and we were looking forward to some quiet days where we didn’t have to plan as much. The stress and difficulty associated with long wait times and unavailable restaurants reservations did not feel very 5* - we were not happy they charged for non motorized sports (kayaks, paddle boards) upward of $80-250 usd to use for an hour. In all other seaside resorts we have stayed at in Asia (Thailand, Vietnam.. ), we never had this. With the price they charge per night, this should have been included. - there was limited amount of shade at the sunset pool after 3pm due to the angle of the sun and when we tried to move our chairs a foot forward to access more shade from the umbrella we were told this was not possible because the chairs all had to remained aligned. There were some available cabanas with proper shade but we were told to use those we would have to pay 10,000 yen. We found this all a little ridiculous considering what they were charging a night.
