Convenient hotel, a few minutes away from Sakai-Higashi station

    rating05 Mar 2019

Stayed in this hotel for 6 nights during my latest stay in Japan. Staff is very friendly, but their proficiency of English is not really good.I was staying in room 902 which was small but nice (see pictures). Clean!Breakfast is nice, but I would appreciate a bit more European/American food in the morning. SakaiDRH, フロント オフィス マネージャー at Daiwa Roynet Hotel Sakai Higashi, responded to this review Thank you very much for staying at the DaiwaroynetHotelSakaihigashi.I am sorry that our English proficiency is low.The room is small but thank you for saying that it is nice.I truly appreciate your comments on breakfast which surely helps us to improve our service. We will further endeavor to fulfill the expectations that you have had for our hotel.Thank youDaiwaroynetHotelSakaihigashi

    Clean and affordable hotel.

We wanted a hotel in Osaka, unfortunately Sakai is some distance out of Osaka. You need to take two trains, one to Shin Imamaya which will be covered by your rail pass, the other to Sakai Higashi which isn't. The ticket will cost you 260Yen each (about £2).The hotel is no more than 5 minutes walk from the station. There are many 'businessman hotels' in Japan and this is another. The room we had was very small, but if you intend to be outside sightseeing most of the day, then this isn't a problem and you can save some cash.Sakai actually has a very interesting history and they have invested in a new fancy museum which is well worth a visit. We didn't eat in the hotel as we wanted to visit the local restaurants. There is a bakery on the way to the station which we used for pastries (for the room) and breakfast. Other than that there are a huge number of restaurants. The room was clean and the staff were very helpful. We have no complaints about this billet. Handy for the shore line and the market in Sakai.

Great hotel good location friendly staff

    rating15 Apr 2017

Convenient for Osaka without being right in the city centre. The area around the hotel is interesting. The city hall next to the hotel has a free access observation floor with excellent views. We visited the Kofun (outside only) it's very impressive ancient tomb site good to walk round. The hotel room was comfortable and a reasonable size by Japanese standards. The staff were friendly and spoke enough English to understand us and communicate. The self service buffet breakfast was excellent, with great variety and quality. Very happy with our stay.

Good Hotel but two transfers from Shin-Osaka Station

    rating12 Apr 2017

I made reservation for the Daiwa Roynet Osaka Sakai-Higashi Hotel about two months in advance for two nights for a total of $144.00 American currency, so $72.00 per night. My wife and I stayed the last week of March 2017. The Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka Sakai-Higashi was the first hotel my wife and I stayed at for our week in Japan. After traveling for 24 hours straight we finally arrived at the Hotel around 10 pm. The check in was an easy process, the hotel attendant spoke English well enough to check us in and answer all of our questions. They also fulfilled my request of being on a higher floor and in a nonsmoking room. One piece of advice is ALWAYS make sure you are getting a nonsmoking room before reserving in Japan. The hotel itself is small for Western standards but bigger than I expected. The bed was comfortable, although we only had one pillow each, usually I like sleeping with two. My wife particularly enjoyed the duvet cover, which was soft and warm. She also liked the seat warmer on the toilet and the bidet, she stated that Japan toilets are way ahead of Western toilets which is definitely true. The room was also clean and neat, with a functional Japanese aesthetic. I would say the only con to this hotel for me was it is sort of inconvenient to get to the location from Shin-Osaka Station. You have to transfer to two different metros in order to get there, which took us about 35-40 min each way. I initially made plans to fly into Osaka but had to change them last moment and fly into Narita, so in a way it’s my fault that I picked this hotel to start with. Overall I would say that I was happy with the experience with this hotel and would give it 4 out 5 stars. I would also utilize this hotel again, if I am ever back in the Osaka area.

Nice hotel just out of Namba

    rating18 Feb 2017

This hotel was located just out of Namba about a 10-15 express train. We knew this when booking and we chose this hotel as it offered a better room for the price, rather than staying in the centre of Osaka. The staff were very nice and the hotel room was clean and comfortable. Typical Japanese style room, not too big but enough room for both of us with two suitcases. There was a really nice ramen house just up the road and a 7-11 convenience store. The hotel was just a few minutes walk from the train station. They have self service laundry wash and dry service for a good price which was a great service to have when you have been travelling for a while!Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again :-)
