Bad, far from JR station and dirty

    rating21 Oct 2025

It is so far from JR, I sweated a lot. It is dirty and dirt marks and unknown substances on surface, hotel staff does not feel much in this. No measure taken.

Large bed in a small room

    rating06 Jun 2025

A three-star hotel with an interestingly decorated lobby - there are automatons-"dinosaurs" installed there. In fact, they are there so that guests, with their "help", do self-check-in. There are very few employees in the hotel, you need to wait a long time until a "human employee" comes to you. The room is small, two-thirds of the room is taken up by the bed. The bed is quite comfortable and large. An important detail! Breakfast in the hotel, although advertised, is actually absent, there is not even a dining room for it. You can only take two strange rice balls per brother in plastic packaging in the lobby. The location of the hotel is convenient. All the sights of Osaka can be easily and quickly reached - either on foot or by public transport.

Unpleasant stay due to unfair treatment & discrimination by hotel staff

    rating16 Dec 2024

The hotel location is superb; conveniently located near shopping and subway stations. Checking in with the dinosaur receptionists was a seamless and unique experience. Although the room was small, it had everything we needed. However, our experience was marred by poor service from a breakfast counter staff member. During our stay from 9-14 December 2024, we encountered unfriendliness and unreasonable treatment. The service crew seemed uninterested in addressing our concerns and she was dismissive of our needs. Her attitude made us feel unwelcomed and unvalued as guests. I cannot help linking it to the language she heard I was communicating with my family....even though she is not aware of where we are from. This lady was serving at the breakfast counter on 10, 12, 13, and 14 Dec 2024. On 10 Dec, we were told that our family of 3 is only entitled to 2 rice balls and 2 bread even though the sign board shows 1 person with 2 rice balls & 2 bread. It was not possible to clarify with her as she simply looked away.We later found out from a nice breakfast lady (who manned the counter on 11 Dec) that EACH guest is entitled to 2 rice balls and 2 bread. On 12 Dec, we took 2 rice balls each first as the tiny table did not have space for more food. When my husband returned to take ONE bread, the bad-mannered lady stopped him and pointed to Point 4 on the notice board in Mandarin - "no return or exchange is allowed". He explained that he was not exchanging or returning any food, he has not even taken a single bread. She simply insisted he cannot take anymore. Now, this is clearly an act of discrimination & unfairness. For the rest of our stay, we gave up having breakfast at the hotel because the bad mannered lady was there. It is not about the rice ball or bread; it is about fair treatment and politeness we expect from a hotel staff in a well-mannered country.Unfortunately, this experience overshadowed the hotel's positive aspects. We do expect a certain level of respect and courtesy when we have approached the staff politely.

    Below average hotel

    rating05 Nov 2023

Although staff are kind, the property itself is not very clean. Very dusty curtains and many stains on the carpet floor. There was a window behind our bed which makes for sunlight hitting our heads while we are sleeping. Daily cleaning is provided but still rooms are not clean enough. Towels are threadbare. As stated by other guests, there are no English channels on TV. Pillows are only 2 per room and very lumpy makes for awful sleep. Location is ok. Not too far away from the Shinsaibashi Station about 5 minutes walk. Located on a quiet back road however there are many noisy motorcycles plying the main road at night, disturbing sleep. We liked the included onigiri however the breakfast station at their other branch is much better and roomier than here. Price is low but should not be an excuse for a dirty room especially in Japan where good service is much valued. We had stayed at the Osaka Namba branch of this hotel and was very happy with our stay.Unfortunately, we will not opt to stay at this Shinsaibashi branch again when in Osaka.

The location was great, very close to Dontonbori, with over the top shopping, dining options and nightlife.

My family of four stayed at the Henn na Hotel Osaka Shinsaibashi during our trip to Osaka. First of all, the Henn na Nishishinsaibashi are a few blocks from each other - don't make the mistake that my husband made. I really expected this to be an "experience" hotel, but it wasn't. You basically check in with the kiosk which is located in front of small mechanical dinosaurs. We booked two single rooms, which were smallish in size, but okay for two people. The rooms had a safe, mini fridge, bathtub, AC and a TV; although I could not find any English channels to the TV. I paid extra on Booking.com for breakfast, but it is free to ALL guests. Breakfast was very basic, cereal, pastry, miso soup, yogurt and juices. The hotel does have luggage storage lockers in the main lobby, as well as visible staff on hand for questions/concerns. The location was great, very close to Dontonbori, with over the top shopping, dining options and nightlife.
