  Disappointing Stay at ibis Osaka Umeda – Poor Value for Money and Below Expectations

  My stay at ibis Osaka Umeda was quite disappointing, especially considering the high room prices. I expected a comfortable and modern experience from the ibis brand, but the actual experience was far below expectations.The rooms were extremely small compared to many other hotels in Osaka within the same price range. For the amount being charged, the room comfort and facilities were simply not worth it.The hotel also lacked several basic amenities that are standard in many hotels today. Complimentary drinking water bottles were not provided in the room, which was surprising because even smaller and cheaper hotels usually provide them as a basic courtesy.Another major disappointment was the TV and entertainment setup. At these prices, guests expect at least Android TV or smart TV functionality. Many hotels already provide this. Even if replacing all TVs is not within the hotel’s budget, the management can easily upgrade existing TVs using affordable Android TV sticks or streaming devices. This is a low-cost improvement that can significantly enhance the guest experience without changing the entire television setup.The coffee arrangement was also disappointing. Other ibis hotels provide proper coffee machines, which gives a much better experience, but here only basic coffee packets were provided in the room. It felt like an unnecessary cost-cutting measure. A proper coffee machine would be a much better option for guests.Cleanliness standards also need improvement. The floors and carpets did not appear to be cleaned properly, and overall housekeeping quality felt below standard.   Ibis standards in a good location

  Stayed 3 nights at this ibis. We came by train, It’s a short taxi ride to the hotel from the station, we were shown a standard room but asked for a upgrade to a bigger room, it wasn’t expensive and well worth doing if available, it was twice as big with a good size bathroom and really made our stay better, Right below the hotel is the shopping mall and subway. It is so easy to get across Osaka on the tube and very cheap, we tried the breakfast but it was poor really, very little fruit offered, no toaster just a rubbish little grill and not much else. Better to save your money or use the cafes in the mall below, open from 8am. It’s in a good location for the shops and next door is a British pub (the hub). It’s a chain but ok. Fish&chips and shepherds pie etc. not big portions but not expensive either, the Osaka ferris wheel is just round the corner too, we tried the Osaka Sumo studio which we booked through Get your guide and found it very good at about £80 for both of us and right beside the tube exit, learned about it and had a laugh too, takes about 1-30hrs. a lovely girl on reception called Khumi was so nice and really helpful and nothing was too much trouble, she helped us plan tube routes and even gave us a picture map for the bus station to the airport when we left, she always greeted us with a smile. , bus station is easy to find from the hotel (15 minute stroll) and cost about £25 for both of us to Kansai airport and leaves every 20 minutes, about £160 for a taxi, we walked to the bus station without cases the night before so we knew the route, it’s just down the road, 50 minutes on the bus to the airport, about a ten minute walk is the Skytree observation building with the cool escalators.   Good location. Generally clean,slightly moldy. They don’t have a laundry room so a downside.
