A small room... but a great value and a ton of amenities!

    rating08 Jun 2024

The Nono Namba was my pick for our week stay in Osaka for one main reason: The onsen! There is nothing quite like having a real onsen to enjoy after a long day of walking around in the hot sun all day doing tourist stuff. The onsen was very well put together but it did get very busy at times. Some other guests (not Americans!) let their stupid kids run around and splash which wasn't the hotel's fault just poor etiquette. The hotel TV is supposed to say when it's busy or not but that was kind of hit or miss.Onsen aside the hotel has a ton of great amenities for a good value. We enjoyed the free noodles at 9:30pm a few evenings and they were yummy. They have free coffee in the lobby and also free ice cream for after you use the onsen. It was cozy walking around in the provided casual yukata and socks. The hotel staff were also great even though we didn't speak Japanese. The only big downside was the room itself is very very small for a traveler with more than one bag. They also had a very tiny trash can to deter people from generating too much garbage in the room. The pillows provided were the thinnest I have ever slept on and they were not willing to provide additional pillows so we could get better sleep (which would have made this a 5/5 star review, just for future reference!). The room was very clean and they did a great job housekeeping every day. The black out curtains were awesome to be able to sleep in a bit longer! The room itself was very authentic and attractive. The room layout was a little weird and if you get up to use the toilet the light turns on in the little foyer and it can wake up your sleeping partner. All in all if you do visit Osaka this hotel is a great value and very close to a station and all the fun touristy stuff along the river. I do recommend!

Lovely tatami mat hotel in an excellent location.

    rating28 Nov 2023

Stayed in a compact twin room with no cleaning. What I liked: The way that the hotel has tatami mats, so no shoes can be worn. This makes it feel cleaner and more of a Japanese experience.Breakfast buffet is amazing. Lots of fantastic foods to try. Excellent management of the buffet by staff too. Occasionally we had to wait a bit for the buffet but not long.Communal bath, which is open all night so you can visit at quieter times.Freebie foods such as ramen and ice cream.Location is brilliant.Reception staff were niceBathroom small but ok. Good showerWhat I didn't like:The compact room is REALLY compact. Opening luggage is a challenge. Having twin beds was a good choice as a small room and a small bed is quite frustrating. It felt quite hot in the room and in the hotel as a whole. There is air con which made a bit of a difference although we struggled to find the right temperature.

Tatami hotel with many frills that comfort you, albeit with some noise

    rating28 Apr 2023

Hotel located on a busy street at short distance from one exit of Nipponbashi station. You can walk from Namba station underground towards east all the way or walk through Dotonbori. Reception is friendly though some younger staff lacks experience and may not speak good English. You have to take off your shoes and store at the lockers or bring them in a bag to your room. It's better to wear socks at the hotel. The room is compact, and we had difficulties opening our two mid-size luggage. Bathroom and WC are separate, so they are more efficient and hygienic. Usual heated seat and Room is on the second floor facing west so there is quite a bit of noise from the street and cars. We saw someone at the reception asking for a change of room. We use ear plugs so no problem there.Free use of washers with detergent. Coin-operated dryer with 100-yen coins. Both in the men's and women's baths. Enjoyed the public bath greatly. Two hot and one cold. Managed to try them. Have to take it easy going into the bath slowly from feet to body. :)Seaweed and bamboo ramen, and ice-cream were nice touches at night after the long walks/tours.In summary, I would recommend strongly if not because of the noise factor. Recommend the management try to resolve this issue. Note that the beds are at the windows with the most noise.+ hot bath, free ice cream, free yoghurt drink free ramen for supper, free washer, cheap dryer, tatami hotel, friendly staff, luggage storage, free hot/drinking water dispensers, free coffee. near Dotonbori, convenience stores, metro station and food places.- rooms facing the road and at low floors may experiience higher noise levels. difficult for light sleepers. not a problem if you normally wear ear plugs to sleep.

    Best location and nice perks

    rating01 Apr 2023

We stayed at the Nono for one night while in Osaka. The location is awesome. Very close to Dotombori and the Kuromon Market. It is also close to a subway station. The rooms are typical Japanese sized, small. Everything in the room was as expected. We like the perks in the hotel like the late night free ramen and ice pop/ice cream available at night. the breakfast buffet was very nice but it got crowded and he had to wait for seats to open. There are a lot of seats and it is a buffet so it didn't take long to clear the wait list. The hot spring was nice. It does get crowded but the crowds can be avoided by going at off times. The hotel TV has an indication of how crowded the hot spring is.The staff was nice and we had no trouble communicating in English.

    Beautiful and Kind

    rating01 Dec 2022

Hanakaze-no-yu Onyado Nono Nanba at 1-4-18 Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka was amazing. The staff spoke English well enough to help with all my needs. The manager spoke English fluently and made sure everything was as I wanted for my stay. You remove your shoes as the entire inside of the hotel is tatami mats and place them in cute shoe lockers (free). The first floor also has a restaurant. The second floor has split gender hot springs with a large Public bath dressing room which is equipped with q-tips, hair brushes, blow driers, shampoo, conditioner- the works. After your relaxation in the bath they provide complementary cold snacks too. The rooms themselves are beautiful. Ours was equipped with a king sized bed and remote control air conditioning. They provided complimentary waters and juice drinks- one each per person per check in. They also provide outfits for the bath which you may wear anywhere in the hotel. The toilet has a bidet attached to it as well. Overall the staff is extremely kind, helpful, and my experience here as a white individual with very little Japanese language knowledge was fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Osaka.
