  Good basic hotel near ueno park and station

  Overall not bad hotel. The buffet breakfast was very minimal and basic. Rooms a fairly small so don’t bring several large suitcases and expect them to fit. Hotel is close to ueno station. Leave via Iriya exit at ueno station to make it easier by walking more inside. Hotel is close to ueno park once to walk to the station.   Decent hotel, but there could be better choices

  Technically, the hotel is near the train station. However, upon entering the nearest entrance of the station from the hotel, you'll have to cross a walkway until you reach the train platform, which will take around 10-15 minutes. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Inside the lobby, there was only one elevator, which can be frustrating especially if it's peak season since the hotel has more than 10 floors. Outside, it takes quite a walk to reach the nearesy convenient store and you'll need to walk a little bit more to reach the more commercial areas. Upon entering the room, the room was clean but was small for two persons. Unpacking and packing two luggages were difficult especially when you bring back a lot of items from shopping. The temperature in the room was controlled by the hotel so we just opened the windows and turned off the heater to have sufficient coolness inside the room. The wifi was erratic and spotty, which was a surprise since personally, I have high expectations regarding internet speed in Japan. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, especially the pillow since they weren't soft nor lumpy. Room service was prompt, though during our stay, they kept forgetting to clean/replace our glasses. Overall, we had a decent stay (Ueno is an underrated area to stay in BTW) but there might be better options should we go to Tokyo again.   No service since is an express check-in and check-out. No interactions with staff, everything is self serve. Room was very dirty, don’t know how often the vacuum the carpet, very dusty, nothing is wiped down. Bedsheets were old. Don’t even know if they replaced it after the previous person, gross!!! I found 2 bobby pinS on the floor. There was a bug in the bathroom. The hotel looks very fancy, modern and new, but the room wasn’t clean. Only one good thing is they have an onsen on the top floor.   I really enjoyed my stay here. It is located close to Ueno station, a 7-10min walk, or a closer walk to Inaricho station (Ginza subway line), so you are well connected to transport, even if you're far from the bigger tourist areas. Asakusa and Sensoji are nearby, 15-20min walk, same for Akihabara. The neighborhood is more local/quiet, which I preferred. There is a north and south entrance to the lobby. Checkin was easy and the staff was extremely professional and polite. There is only one elevator. The room was small for western standards, but even with a big bag, it was fine - you can store the bag under the bed. Loved the deep tub to soak in, and loved the provided yukata! You get plenty of towels, and on the second day, they leave a bag with even more. Included a few free bottles of water too. Everything worked great, AC worked great. View was decent. Bed was comfy. This is a great hotel if you want value and comfort, but not be in the middle of the busy city. I would love to return!   Good base for exploring

  Had a great stay here. The hotel is located within walking distance of Ueno Station, which was handy for the express train from the airport. It was well located for the sakura viewing too, a short walk to Ueno Park. There are convenience stores close by and a couple of bars and restaurants too (between the hotel and the station).I loved the efficient check in and out. The rooms are small, with absolutely everything you need to rest and recharge before heading out to explore Tokyo. Including comfortable bed and good shower. The breakfast is small.
