A good place to stay for a visit to Tokyo. Recommended.

    rating05 Mar 2026

We stayed at the Dormy Inn, Asakusa for 5 nights as part of a short visit to Tokyo. We chose this hotel because it was close to Asakusa Station (with a direct connection to Tokyo Haneda Airport), had good reviews, and had facilities that included a fridge and microwave in the room, and a laundry room. We managed to get a good deal for a room with a view of the Tokyo Skytree and the River Sumida. The hotel certainly met all our expectations and more. Although the room was on the small side, it was comfortable. The breakfast was fine, with a Japanese flavour as is to be expected (quite a few fish dishes) but enough options for a western-oriented vegetarian diet. The on-sen was good (and well used by us) but note the separate male and female times. The “extras” (drinking yoghurt, ice-cream, coffee at certain times) and the evening ramen (assumed not vegetarian) were much appreciated. And, of course, everyone was very polite and helpful and the hotel was very clean.

Great location, close to train station and Sensoji Temple area

    rating12 May 2025

I stayed for four nights at this hotel while visiting Tokyo and in particular the Asakusa area. The hotel was a few minutes walk from the nearest train station, and from the. Sensoji Temple and surrounding shopping and dining areas. The cost of the room was very reasonable and the location was perfect. As with most Japanese hotel rooms, they are very small compared to western hotels but managed to do the job. The staff was very helpful with check-in and checkout was speedy. I did eat the breakfast buffet once at the hotel despite having a willing pallet, the selection for an average westerner was fairly slim. There are countless restaurants within a few minutes, walk of the hotel. The bed was extremely hard. I have no problem with the hard mattress, but it felt like it was a thin layer of padding on top of plywood. The pillows were very much like thin sandbags. Made for a very difficult night sleep.

Excellent small, mid-range hotel with all the facilities a traveller could want. Convenient location.

    rating13 Aug 2024

This was our 4th time to stay at the Dormy Inn Express (Asakusa). This hotel is our 'home away from home' in Tokyo and we always feel very comfortable here with the rooms and staff. We always have the same high floor River View balcony room with views across the water to SkyTree and the Asahi 'golden turd'. I guess it's classified as only a 3star business hotel but it's clean and the facilities for foreign travellers are great. The decor of our room is probably late 1990s - and the room by Tokyo standards is larger than average - almost spacious. If you want a huge, sparkling 4/5star hotel with all the 'bells and whistles' this is not it. Free washing machines (x3), gas dryers, great ¥1200 breakfast, complimentary evening Ramen, complimentary bath, foot spa, massage chairs on 10th floor with views, complimentary ice-cream, complimentary Yakult, genuine, friendly and helpful English speaking staff, luggage storage and forwarding, excellent location and very close to convenience store, river cruises and the Metro.

This place was wonderful and perfectly located!

    rating20 Apr 2024

The Dormy Inn Express, in Asakusa, was the most amazing way to start our trip in Japan! The three nights we spent there were beautiful. The room was nice and quiet, and we had a view across the river that was unmatched.Member of the staff was so kind and so helpful, that it really warmed our hearts. The breakfast every morning was wonderful and traditional. The location could not have been better. Being right on the river was fantastic. And being just a couple minutes away from the subway entrance was so convenient. In addition, we were so close to Sen Sojii Temple, and everything around it, that it just blew our minds!Thank you!

    Perfect location with good views

    rating10 Jul 2023

Just stayed at the Dormy Inn Express in Asakusa. Location and views from the river side of the hotel are fabulous! Room was largish (by Japan standards) with a balcony overlooking the river and great views of SkyTree and the Kirin golden turd. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Location was very close to Sensoji, cruises, restaurants and only 60metres to the Ginza subway entrance.
