    Nice rooms, ok area

    rating12 Dec 2025

Good location next to train station (station is easy to navigate) but included breakfast was just ok, very small restaurant. Staff was very helpful. Room very nice. Wasn’t wild about the area it is in, probably would stay in another area next time.

    Perfect Location to stay at!

    rating05 Nov 2025

This hotel was great. It is situated right next door to a train station entrance and also to an overhead plaza to entrances to the other parts of the station. This overhead plaza also leads directly to the restaurant area of the train station. This hotel is walking distance to Ueno park with all the museums and the Ueno Zoo. The park was beautiful to walk through. The next time I return to Tokyo, I would stay in Ueno again and this hotel. It is also walking distance to the many streets with restaurants and shops. A fun location to explore!

Great Location, Comfortable Stay, and a View of Skytree!

    rating19 Aug 2025

We walked to Mitsui Garden Inn Ueno from Ueno Station. It was easy, just a couple of streets to cross (there are overpasses too if you prefer). Check-in was quick and modern through an automated kiosk, and there was a helpful staff member guiding the process. We asked for a “room with a view,” and they delivered: 14th floor with a great view of Tokyo Skytree! It also felt quieter up there, which was a nice bonus. The room itself was a good size. We never felt cramped. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and the bathroom was clean (though the tub wall is a bit high to step over).Breakfast was included, and we appreciated having a good way to fuel up for the day, with a mix of food options. Tip: go earlier (we went around 8am) because by 9 it starts to get busy. The location is excellent. We walked to Senso-ji Temple and Akihabara in about 30 minutes each, Ueno Park in 10, and being next to the train station made it easy to get everywhere else.Overall, a comfortable, well-located hotel with helpful staff and thoughtful touches. Would stay again!

Panda room swung it for me

    rating02 Aug 2025

Spent the last night of a 15-night Japan trip here and chose Ueno as it was a) a new area of Tokyo for us and b) worked really well for flying into one airport and out of the other. Shamelessly chose this hotel because of its special ‘panda room’ promotion which felt like a bit of fun for our last night. The hotel itself was lovely, very modern and new, so everything was spotless. The panda theme extended to linen, shower curtains and a panda on the bed, with a second, smaller panda to take home. Pretty cute but not nauseatingly so.Location was brilliant – accessible to Ueno station via walkways over the busy roads. And despite being in such a busy location, soundproofing was great and we slept brilliantly. We enjoyed exploring the park and also the warren of market stalls, izakayas and restaurants nearby for both dinner and breakfast before we left (the latter being much harder to find). The room was a decent size by Tokyo standards but with only being there for one night, this wasn’t too much of an issue for us. A really solid option (and probably would be even if you didn’t go for the panda room).

    Very mediocre yet expensive.

    rating05 Jun 2025

I usually don't stay in a mid-range hotel but this time I was solo and wanted to try cheaper than usual options. I also wanted to see what staying in Ueno is like. My conclusion-I would probably never stay in this hotel or in Ueno again. Don't get me wrong. Ueno is very convenient and is a super vibrant area, but it just felt cheap and chaotic. The Amekoko area at night was super packed with so many Asian tourists and it didn't feel like I was in Japan.Back to the hotel. I booked an 18m2 double room and I thought it would be an adequate size for one, but because of a small window, the room felt almost claustrophobic. Bathroom is a small unit bath as well, which I dislike! The location is not bad but to get to anywhere, you need to use this gigantic pedestrian bridge and at the majority of bridge entrances, there are only stairs. So beware if you have a large luggage. There is nothing special or outstanding about this hotel and the rate was 30,000+, too much for what you get. The only positive was very polite and efficient cleaning staff.
