    Decent Hotel For Solo Stay

    rating08 Oct 2023

The StayHotel New Star Ikebukuro is located conveniently near Ikebukuro station (5-10 minute walk, depending where you exit). I guess this is what you call the typical business hotel for business travelers. It has most if not all the essential you'll need for the stay. But is not a fancy like some of the big name hotel, but is not bad. The place is old, but they keep it fairly clean (to Japan standard), compare to some motel and hotel. Don't expect a nice view or nice lighting, but is a decent place to stay if you don't want to share rooms. The MiscellaneousThe hotel is located in a good location with different various shop, restaurants, and other amenities nearby (I mean it is in Tokyo). They are conveniently walkable. Sunshine City is also a walkable distance as well. The staff seem sincere and try to explain the process to travelers. They mention you should leave the key with them before you leave to explore so they can clean the room when you are out. All in the all, it is not an upscale place, but is a decent place if you are looking for something not super expensive to stay the night.

    Budget Stay

    rating31 May 2023

Last minute something came up&i need to find a place for 4nights, with tight budget. It’s located about 15m walk from Ikebukuro st. There’s very few tourist in this area, food is relatively cheaper, esp in local Izakaya Con- room is very dim, no kettle, window us tightly locked although it’s a smoking unitPro - bed& pillow r comfy, standard amenities available similar to Toyoko Inn. There’s a heat plate& 1metal coffee pot to cook water for 1pax. Coffee machine available at lobby

Here an overview : + really friendly staff+ really clean + every day new towels etc+ comfy bed - lot's of pillows upon request+ great location+ washing possibilities- pretty old Overall we really felt at home there. Yes it was old and not on the newest updates but we had everything we needed. For that price we would go again!

    Good hotel for price

Rooms are a little vintage and it’s about 10 mins walk from Ikebukuro train station but the room was clean. Had to book a smoking room since it was the only one available but didn’t smell bad. WiFi is still a little bit slow but manageable. Small tip, since you have to leave the key at the front when you leave, remember how to say your room number in Japanese! Makes it easier for both you and the front. Also the washer/dryer use is extremely cheap (100yen each), so plus on that. All in all great experience for myself.

Well,I'm glad my stay here is over. Holy crap, don't make the mistake of coming here. The rooms are tiny. The bed is harder than a torture device. Everything is run down. And it reeks of smoke. The bed is tiny. The bathroom is even worse. I couldn't even properly stand in it. Stains in the rug. Just disgusting
