  Service… , Scam Key Fee, and Deceptive Location!

  My recent stay at the Tokyu Stay Shibuya was an exercise in frustration and annoyance. While the room itself was admittedly fine—clean enough and adequately sized—the entire experience was completely soured by the genuinely appalling attitude, outright scamming tactics of the reception staff, and a deceptively inconvenient location.The only genuinely smooth part of the entire stay was the check-in process itself, which was quick and efficient. After that, everything went downhill fast.The reception staff, after check-in, were without exception, shockingly rude. Every subsequent interaction felt like an imposition. I felt like I was bothering them just by asking a basic question. This is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel, especially in a city known for its excellent customer service.The worst part, however, was the blatant attempt to fleece me. I unfortunately misplaced my room key card (a small, easy-to-lose plastic card), and when I reported it, I was informed that the replacement fee was an outrageous $12! This is nothing more than a cheap, transparent attempt at a scam. Key cards cost pennies to produce. Charging $12 is completely predatory and left a very bitter taste. It felt like they were actively looking for ways to extract extra money from guests.On top of the terrible service and scam fee, they clearly don't believe in providing basic hotel services. They do not do room cleaning. I had to deal with the accumulated trash and mess myself for the entire duration of the stay.And finally, about the location. While it’s technically near Shibuya, be prepared for a slog. It’s a tedious 10 to 15-minute walk just to reach the main, lively streets and the Shibuya Station hub. If you're hoping for easy, immediate access to the action, forget it—you're stuck on a quiet side street far from the main transport hubs and shops.The room was "okay," but the hostile, scamming reception staff, lack of basic services, and deceptive location make this a hotel to absolutely avoid. I travel frequently to Tokyo, and this was, by far, the worst hotel stay I have ever had in the city. Save your money and your sanity—book elsewhere

  Great location, comfortable stay

  Stayed for 5 nights in September and really enjoyed my time at Tokyu Stay Shibuya. The location is excellent—just a short walk to Shibuya Station, shopping, and restaurants, but slightly removed from the busiest area, so it's quieter and more relaxed.The room was clean and well-equipped, with all the amenities I needed, including a washer/dryer and a very comfortable bed. Perfect for a longer stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, and overall the hotel felt safe and well-maintained.Highly recommend for anyone looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay in Tokyo. Good value for money.

  Excellent hotel in an excellent location

  We stayed for 10 nights in June, this was our second visit to Japan and this hotel far exceeded our expectations. The rooms were modern,clean well laid out which meant we could actually unpack our bags access the bed from both sides and had a balcony all of which rarities in Tokyo. The TV although not having English channels had access to Prime Video and Netflix so on the rare occasions we did spend time in the room we were able to keep ourselves entertained. There was also a washer dryer in the room which we made you use of a couple of times during our stay as it was rainy season it was great to be able to freshen up our clothes. There is free coffee in reception which is great when you come in from a long day pounding the streets of Tokyo or on your way out in the mornings. The hotel is close to Shibuya station we had a little trouble finding it when we first got to Tokyo as we ended up on the wrong side of the rail tracks but once we found our bearings, it was so simple and we took full advantage of the Narita express to and from Narita airport , it’s easy walking distance to the scramble to everything else you could possibly want to access to in Central Tokyo. Staff were always pleasant and friendly. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel and will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Tokyo

  PROS-Convenient Shibuya location -Friendly and helpful reception staffCONS-Very loud.. the train tracks run past the hotel and the train noise is exceptionally loud until the early hours and re starts early. Although I know noise is inevitable in Tokyo the train noise here made sleep impossible and was much louder than the other hotels I stayed in in Tokyo -Room was dirty and cleaned to a very poor standard -No breakfast at the hotelI would not recommend and would not stay here again.

  This hotel was in a very good location. We arrived too early to check in but they stored our luggage whilst we went sightseeing. Upon our return our luggage was already in our room, which we appreciated. In the room they utilised the space well. Staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly Mr M Gurung, we really appreciated your help. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows could have been softer. Great shower and nice towels. I would however, suggest having breakfast elsewhere. Certainly value for money and I would certainly return.
