    Unfriendly reception and wrong description

    rating21 Feb 2026

The reception staff were quite cold, which did not feel like the traditional Japanese hospitality we expected. Although they were not Japanese, that should not be an excuse for being unfriendly when dealing with customers visiting Japan. We only felt a bit more welcome later, when we were looking for the lift to our room on the 6th floor — a Japanese staff member greeted us warmly, which helped ease the awkward feeling from earlier. Our room was on the 6th floor but located in the back building, and the front building completely blocked the lake view. So it’s not worth paying extra to book the 6th floor for the view. The hotel described our room as 57 square metres, but it did not feel that spacious in reality.Later, we noticed clumps of white dust on the wooden beam on the ceiling, which made us feel we had made the wrong choice in booking this hotel. The food quality was also not great, so I wouldn’t recommend booking the dinner package.I honestly don’t understand why this hotel has such high review ratings on Agoda.

    Beautiful views but very dated

    rating17 Apr 2024

We stayed here for one night as part of our Japan tour. Unfortunately the key to our traditional ryokan inn room snapped off in the lock as we tried to enter the room and the situation could not be resolved quickly so we were moved to a western style room on the top floor which was very dated and very hot. The AC either was not clearly working properly. Thankfully due to the good offices of our wonderful guide we were offered another smaller room which was a traditional room with futon which we gladly accepted. The view across the lake was stunning. We had a traditional Japanese banquet for dinner which was really interesting. The staff were truly lovely. Our guide commented that the furniture in the dining room had been changed from traditional seating to western furniture recently to accommodate the changing clientele. It was also apparent that there was renovation work ongoing at the time of our visit which made the overall ambience a little chaotic.

    Wonderfu Location at Lake Kawaguchi

    rating16 Dec 2023

Best thing about the hotel is the location. Wonderful viewpoint from the lake in front of the hotel. Room is very spacious though feels dated, which may appeal for travellers in search of more traditional rooms. Parking available in front of hotel. Wonderful private dinner and food portions are generous.

    Fuji San experience

    rating16 Nov 2023

The hotel offers a great view on Fuji San, and the traditional Japanese style room, although bit old are nice and with a beatiful view on Kawaguchiko lake as well.I enjoyed a lot the typical Japanese dinner and breakfast even though the staff do not speak English but is always really warm and helpful. The hotel although a bit far from Kawaguchiko train&bus station can be easily reached with a private little bus that can be reserved at the tourist info point right outside the train station.Really recommended the pedestrian walk just crossed the street along the Kawaguchiko lake!

Tired hotel but decent and clean, staff are very nice

    rating11 Feb 2023

This hotel has 3 blocks as it is set into a hill. The first block contains the lobby, then at the 5th floor you connect to the middle block (which faces Fuji directly) and contains rooms on the 6-7th floors. It also contains the bathing area with an outdoor view of Mount Fuji. From the middle block, the 8th floor connects to the last block which contains levels 8-10. This block has a view of Fuji but you have to look out your window at a slant.Rooms are run down and hotel looks like it was stuck in the 1970s. Curtains are stained, walls have marks, corridor walls are stucco. Shoji screens in room have torn paper. Sink looks dirty. Wood surfaces are worn. The finishings in the room could certainly use some refurbishment and love. However it is decently clean and I was still comfortable for my stay. Food was a good spread and tasty.I was treated to fireworks over the lake which was visible from the room. The hotel staff (front desk, dinner staff) all made it a point to mention the event and where to view it from, which I appreciate.
