    Not luxury anymore

    rating24 May 2026

Unfortunately, our stay at Lux Bubble Hotel in Wadi Rum was disappointing and far below expectations. The hotel feels very old and appears not to have been renovated since opening. The reality is far from the videos and photos shown online, which created a misleading impression before arrival. The staff genuinely tries to help and does their best with what they have, and we appreciate their effort. However, the overall product and facilities need serious improvement. The breakfast and dinner were particularly disappointing. Food quality was weak, many dishes were dry, and unfortunately flies around and on the food raised concerns about hygiene and food handling standards.Wadi Rum is a spectacular destination and deserves accommodation that matches its beauty. We hope management invests in renovation, maintenance, and significant improvements in food quality and guest experience.Be prepared that the reality may be very different from what you see online or in YouTube videos, so try not to be shocked if your experience does not match those expectations.

    Amazing hotel great experience

    rating07 Mar 2026

When we initially arrived we weren’t sure as we had to wait for a transfer on one of the pick up trucks as normally cars can’t reach the site. It took around 10 minutes to drive there it’s like driving on mars there’s nothing around just vast dessert and a bit bumpy. Don’t take huge pieces of luggage as it’s difficult for them to transport. We had a cabin bag and backpack each.We waited in the main area then were taken by golf buggy to our room with our suitcases. You have to go through one door then the next other wise the bubble deflates. There’s a hot tub on the balcony and you can look at the stars in it at night. We’d highly recommend the stargazing it was around £25 each but you learn so much and it’s totally worth it. Theres also a private sunset tour where they drive you around the desert to different locations this I also very worth it and we’d highly recommend it. The meal which was included in our price was very good chicken vegetable and rice with dessert buffet. and the breakfast buffet the following morning was also good and well varied.

    Quite disappointing

    rating25 Jan 2026

While I understand that in certain environments a degree of adaptability is necessary — and this was not my first night in the desert — I do believe that when a property is marketed as luxury or 4-star, certain standards should be met.The shape and location of the bubble are certainly interesting, and both dinner and breakfast were good. The staff was polite and friendly as well. Unfortunately, everything beyond that was quite disappointing. The bubble itself is clearly patched in several areas, with results that are far from acceptable for this category. The bed is positioned between the cold-air intake that keeps the bubble inflated and the air-conditioning unit, creating an unpleasant and constant airflow. The most serious issues, however, were in the bathroom and during the night. The bathroom floor (imitation wood / plywood) was completely deteriorated, with pieces coming off while walking on it. Even worse, in the middle of the night the bubble started to deflate. At 4 a.m. we had to get dressed quickly and rush outside, leaving all our belongings inside the bubble.According to the receptionist, pressure drops can happen, but the timing and severity of this incident were described as highly unusual. As an apology, we were offered a 50% discount on the lunch we had the previous day (8 JOD instead of 16), which felt inadequate given the situation.Overall, the concept has potential, but the maintenance, safety, and comfort fall well short of what is advertised.

The Fawlty Towers of The Middle East

    rating25 Dec 2025

If Basil Fawlty ever abandoned Torquay for the desert, this would be his masterpiece. From the outset it was hard to tell who, if anyone, was actually in charge. The word “resort” is doing Olympic-level heavy lifting here, and the promise of a “dry” resort is communicated with all the subtlety of missing punctuation. The “bar,” for example, turned out to be a gritty snack bar where smoking is actively encouraged - hydration optional.Staffing was an interpretive experience. The front desk team leaned more “buffoon” than “boutique hospitality”, and there was no advice to bring extra drinking water beyond the ungenerous daily ration of 500ml per person (additional water available… at extra cost, naturally). Food itself was fine, though identifying who was waitstaff was a fun guessing game, as most wandered around casually dressed and seemingly unsure why they were there. Credit where it’s due: two female staff members were exceptional — which made it especially uncomfortable to witness one of them being barked at by a male front desk staff member in front of guests. Put the girls in charge, I say.The concept is interesting, but coming from Australia - a country with actual camping and glamping experiences that don’t pretend to be luxury - this was wildly underwhelming. Transport between the arrival “lounge” and reception was both dangerous and freezing; I was particularly amused that my suitcase secured a seat inside the vehicle cabin, while I was relegated to the rickety back tray like surplus cargo. Promised activities (cooking classes, campfires, stargazing) quietly failed to materialise, giving strong flashbacks to COVID-era travel when everything was cancelled but no one quite admitted it.Two nights was far too long. It’s overpriced, poorly run, and by the end we were genuinely looking forward to leaving and returning to accommodation with radical luxuries like functioning shower doors. Two stars. Interesting idea if they can sort out who’s doing what. Execution? Basil would be proud.
