  A lovely stay in Kaunas

  Stayed here two nights, firstly the hotel is well located just behind a major walking street through Kaunas that leads to the Old Town. We were checked in promptly and the room was upgraded to a Superior as a VIP member. There was a lovely gesture of a beer and some peanuts left for us. The room was small but tastefully decorated and very clean. We were only staying one night so spent more time outside the hotel than inside.It is clearly a Park Inn hotel that has been renovated quite tastefully, it has a sauna and fitness room. We didn’t have time to use them.Breakfast was tasty and I loved the machine to make fresh waffles. There were a lot of choices and it was well stocked. Given the location and price I would happily return here, it was close to a supermarket, shops and restaurants. But taxis from the old town or train station might be easier to save your feet!   At 7 a.m. this morning, the fire alarm went off, and a voice urged us to leave our rooms immediately and go downstairs using the stairs. I hurried out in a state of alarm, but when I returned, everything was calm; I then had to wait in line at reception only to find out it was a false alarm.   1. Check-in experience (July 5)When we arrived, we had to wait approximately 15–20 minutes to check in. The reason was that there was only one receptionist working, and she was doing her best to take care of everyone. I do not blame her at all—it was clear that she was simply left alone to handle a busy reception.While waiting, I went to the bar to pass the time and ordered a Moscow Mule. To my surprise, the bartender had never heard of the drink. I tried to explain what it was, but he told me he had never heard of it.2. Bar service (July 6)The following day, July 6, the same receptionist was again working alone at the front desk. I went to the bar, but there was no bartender present. I waited for about 10 minutes before speaking to the receptionist, who asked me to wait a little longer.After another 5 minutes, I spoke to her again. She went to find someone, and when a staff member finally arrived, I told him I wanted to order a sandwich. He entered something into the computer, looked at the menu, and then simply walked away. He never asked what sandwich I wanted, whether I wanted anything to drink, or acknowledged me in any way. I genuinely felt as though I was inconveniencing him simply by wanting to order.After waiting another five minutes, I returned to the reception desk and explained that this was very poor service and that I had no interest in spending any more money at the hotel. The receptionist did not respond, and I returned to my room. We stayed in the junior suite as always but if you want water, the bottle is in your room but it costs 5 euro to open it (750ml)Sadly, after this experience, I will not be returning to this hotel again.   A great base for a city break

  We had a very enjoyable stay at the Crowne Plaza Kaunas and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting the city.The hotel is modern, clean and very well maintained, with comfortable rooms that had everything we needed for our stay. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore Kaunas on foot while still being in a peaceful area.The staff were friendly, welcoming and always happy to help with any questions or requests, which made us feel well looked after throughout our visit.Breakfast was very good, with a wide selection of fresh hot and cold options to suit different tastes and a great start to each day.Overall, the Raddisson Kaunas offers excellent value, a great location, comfortable accommodation and attentive service. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Kaunas.   Difficult stay

  This Hotel is used a lot by patient using the Orthopaedic Clinic nearby where they pay for private operations. Sadly the Hotel doesn’t give this highly profitable stream of revenue enough care. I stayed for 10 days and picked up food poisoning from here on day two. This resulted in a delay with my operation for 2 days. At no time was there any due care given by the hotel staff and I actually had to force a refund from the guilty meal! Myself and others were placed too far from elevators making post op distances more difficult and lengthy. I also was waiting in a queue for an hour to pay my bill on Monday night due to lack of reception staff! This resulted in my knee swelling up! Some of the staff such as Goda, Greta, Maria and the Barman with dark hair were excellent. But a couple of the reception staff who I won’t name were unhelpful and difficult. I have already spoken to a member of staff about this and emailed fao Samanta the Manager due to her absence. I think you did well to get 3 stars off me.
