Has potential
31 Dec 2025
I recently stayed at the Cenang View Hotel at the end of the Pantai Cenang strip. While the hotel has some great features like its pool, my experience was a mix of convenience and several logistical frustrations. The hotel is tucked away at the quiet end of the strip, right across from a building currently under construction. On the plus side, it’s a very easy walk to Underwater World, McDonald's, and several local eateries. If you have toddlers (around 4 or 5), the walk to the beach is a decent bit of daily exercise, though it might feel like a "hike" for those with very small children. One thing to note for drivers: while parking is advertised, it isn't free. I had to pay via debit card every time I exited, which was a bit disappointing as nearby spots like Langura Baron offer it for free. On a positive note, the staff was kind enough to hold our bags when we arrived early so we could explore before the 3:00 PM check-in.The hotel itself feels a bit dated with a very "eclectic" decor style—you’ll find a mix of geometric patterns, faux-fur couches, rope lights, soft toy monkeys hanging from the ceiling.. In the rooms, beige covers, mint green walls, pink curtains, tables and chairs that look like patio furniture, alongside traditional wooden furniture / deco.I did have a serious safety concern: I noticed the staircase / emergency exit from the second floor was padlocked shut, which is something the management should definitely address. The highlight of the stay was definitely the rooftop pool. it’s huge and a great place to relax. My kids also enjoyed the playground and the smaller splash pool. The room smelled clean when we entered, but the "deep clean" details were missing, as I found long hair on the floor, and clean towels with dubious stains and smells. A quick look at the mattress toppers reveals "CV 2016" on them. Which I'm assuming is "Cenang View" and 2016 the date on which they were first bought by the hotel, which is a little disgusting that they've not been replaced in nearly 10 years.A heads-up for those sensitive to temperature: there are no fans in the rooms. We had to choose between the dry cold of the aircon or the muggy humidity of the room without it.Hence drying wet clothes was impossible... I did hang on the outdoor balcony, however, some blew off. The reception staff claimed there was no way to retrieve them from on top of the restaurant roof below. The shower was cold. No hot running water (even with the shower switch turned on) this combined with lack of room cleanliness, detailed below, made the stay slightly uncomfortable, and that neither myself nor the room was ever fully clean. The housekeeping policy is also a bit restrictive. You have to leave your room and drop your key at reception before 12:00 PM to indicate you want your room to be cleaned. Luckily with kids, there's no chance of wanting a lazy morning or a lie-in, but this was frustrating as it forced us out during the hottest part of the day. Even after following these rules on Christmas Day, we returned after four hours to find our room hadn’t been touched... bins were overflowing and the floor was still sandy, and the toilet (with two young children) had not been cleaned.A maid came around a few hours later but by that time there was no point, as we were heading back out. She emptied the bins as instructed.Service was the most challenging part of our stay. When we checked in, we were told the Tourism Tax had to be paid in cash. Since I hadn't seen this in the fine print, we had to leave and find an ATM, which wasn't the best start.Throughout the stay, the front desk seemed overwhelmed; it felt like it was the same women all day and night in the desk. And it seemed like every time I walked by, there was a disgruntled guest. When our room wasn't cleaned, the response was an apology that felt more like "passing the blame" due to being busy for the holidays, rather than a proactive fix.I feel regardless of cost, "cleanliness" and a "decent shower" are "non-negotiables". If you just need a place to sleep with a decent pool and you aren't too bothered by inconsistent service or quirky decor, Cenang View Hotel does the job. However, if you prefer a more seamless experience and attentive staff, you might want to look at other options.

Horrible hotel

Horrible propertie, really a nightmare, scammer and they keep your money, at your arrival they put you in another building. This building is horrible, dirt room, full of mold, the bed is dirty the pillows smell like sour , the smell in the room is so horrible. The bathroom is a dump, totally disgusting, cold water. No internet The swimming pool is the walls green of dirty, the conditions of the bathroom around and the pool is just to shut down for safety reasons. The people go fully dressed to the water, without shower first.I never stayed in a place so horrible before.I pay for 6 nights, stay the first and I need to buy a new booking, and they don't give you back your money. And is no internet in this property

HORRIBLE!! I think this is a motel more than a hotel because its just horrible not even a 1 star worth. The environment is noisy with a music downstairs and random noise heard across the room.IM GLAD that i just stayed here for a night.even my house is 100x better than this WWII trenches(it is).pls do something about this. The wifi also slow and my data outperform 10x better than it.overall never come here ever again. If some1 read this pls dont come here.im warning u!!and one thing the toilet doesnt even had a soap and shampoo wth even motel is cheaper and better than this hotel.Im really pissed and theres even drunkard bro i dont feel safe.(i can fold them in a second though)

My insightful experience at Cenang view hotel.

Upon checking in the security door chain is not working. Managed to get the housekeeping to fix it right away. Pillow were as hard as a rock, woke up the next day with a neck strain. Wifi were unreliable so do get your own data during your stay here. There were a lot of tiny cockroaches running around the room. When informed during the room makeover, they said they will check for the roaches. Requested for a change of room, given an option to a smaller room with no windows. Towels provided were smelly. Toilet rugs are stained.
