Lovely experience of Water Villas at an Affordable Price in Langkawi

    rating06 Jan 2025

I booked a Water villa via Booking.com, the agent who was in charge handed over the property very nicely, providing us with quick meals like maggie/soda in the kitchen. Room and bathroom is clean. And an Incredible view! The villa comes with, 1 King Size Bed, 1 Sofa-cum Bed, 1 Electric Stove, 1 Microwave, 1 Mini Fridge, Bathroom with geyser which works 24/7 1 Huge Sized TV with Netflix/Prime/Disney+ with owner account logged in which you can use for free. Also AC works well but sometimes the weather becomes very hot that you might not feel the AC is working but don't worry it'll take a while to cool down the room. You can also use the swimming pool which is nearby and the scenery is just breath taking. Many good places to visit nearby and places to eat, the owner was kind enough to send a list without us even asking and made things much easier! This place might feel a bit old, like near the windows the curtains are bit torn, but the staff have maintained the place very well. They also seem to be renovating a few villas so I think they might make things even better soon.Overall lovely experience I had, wish I could have stayed a few more days in Langkawi, will definitely want to visit again soon!

    Uhm...take your chance...

    rating09 Apr 2024

I've read the latest review here back to Aug'23. We take the chance and booked this hotel anyway because of the price. I do not see any guests for the 1.5 days we checked in. The next day only we saw a family of 3 checked in. And then we never see any other guests anymore. At night, the hotel area is dark and gloomy. The room we stayed is spacious but the toilet is rather old. The toilet flush is not working on the 2nd day and the maintenance department came very quickly to fix which I am quite happy about. However the aircon is not cold at all even with the fan on. Towels looks very old too. They served breakfast to your room. The breakfast is so-so.Swimming pool looks okay but we didn't use it.If I have another chance to choose, I will not choose this hotel though. I believed this hotel used to be a good one, just lack of maintenance. This hotel needs to be re-furbish.Oh ya, some photos shown in the website may be misleading as there's another nicer hotel next to it which is Ombak Village.

    Avoid this property

    rating05 Aug 2023

This was booked through Air Asia - touted as a 4 star hotel with sea access. I would advise against booking this hotel. This hotel is:1. Front desk - manned by only one staff - who is not dressed in a smart uniform as is expected of a 5-star hotel (rating as per what is on the website) - person is dressed casually so the first impression you get does not spark confidence. This person speaks rudimentary English and is also not present most of the time. Upon check in you are told that there will be no breakfast as the restaurant is under renovation (you will however note that there is no renovation going on at all!), there is no wifi, and you are only given one key to the room. You are also told that if you need assistance with anything, to call a mobile number on an envelope that contains your room keycard. The room does not have a phone. There is no bell-boy - at least not when we checked in. 2. Old and severely in need of a refresh. The general feel you will get is that this property is about to close down. Rooms are large but furniture/toilet unit and all fittings in the rooms need to be changed as it is showing its age (our toilet unit was chipped and looked yellowed/dirty with age). Room smells musty and is in need of a deep clean. Fresh towels were provided every day of our stay but they were stained. Furniture on the balcony was dismal and stained with bat/lizard poop so the option of even going to the balcony is restricted. 3. The picture of the pool for Langkawi Lagoon on this page is actually inaccurate - pictured is the pool at Ombak Villa (a better hotel) which is the property next to this hotel. 3. The surroundings of this hotel is not maintained well - grass leading to the pool and around the area is unkempt. Doors leading in and out of the property are in disrepair.4. Sea access is treacherous - this "lagoon" looks to be a mangrove swamp and is not ideal for swimming as the sea bed is filled with mangrove saplings and thick mud (observed at low tide). You are advised to tread with caution or walk a few hundred meters towards Ombak Villa and beyond for a better swimming experience. 5. Star rating of this hotel needs to be reviewed and retagged as a 2 star perhaps so people get an honest view of what they are booking and are able to manage their expectations.I do not recommend this hotel. The only upside is that it is close to the airport. A bit of a nuisance as it is not close to any amenities and given the restaurants on site are all closed, you will need to rely on e-hailing services or the hotel buggy to take you to the next property for food (we were not presented with information about the option of the buggy service to the next hotel for food when we checked in).

Wouldn't book this hotel, even if I was paid to...

    rating28 Jan 2023

I really don't know where to begin. I booked this hotel because this was our first vacation post covid and also to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary. The hotel is looks very dated. The reality do not match the pics. At check in, we were told that there is no wifi in the room, and that we would need to pay a deposit for a router. There is no restaurant at the hotel. if we needed breakfast we needed to place an order for the brekkie the night before (before 8 pm), and the food would be served to us in our room. We were given the option of going to the next hotel to use their restaurant if we wanted. As we entered our room it smelled very musty. The bathroom had a very bad smell (urine). There was a pair of used/dirty socks drying the the bathroom (possibly of the previous guest). The shower area had a part of the wall which had some stones/rocks on it. There were droppings of some creature nestled in the crevices between the stones/rocks. On day 2 in the morning, I found a bat flying around in the bathroom. I have concluded that the bad smell and the dropping could’ve been bats who frequent that area in numbers. The mirror meant for shaving had only the stand, no mirror. The rubbish bin in the bathroom was cracked at the bottom. On a couple of days, housekeeping didn’t leave any face towels (day 1) and bath mats (day 4) in the bathroom after they cleaned up. There were cobwebs in the bathroom & behind the curtains in the room. The rollout bed for the kids didn’t have a mattress that fit the size of the rollout bed. It was a smaller one and seemed like it was from a baby’s cot and was just made to fit in there. The room doesn’t have a phone to call the reception. The only way to communicate is through WhatsApp. There are no staff in sight for the most part. Every time we passed by the reception, there was no one at the counter. We saw some staff around the property over the last 2 days of our stay. The resort doesn’t have a spa as well. The structure seemed to be in a dilapidated condition and in high need of repairs and refurbishments. While it was visible that some rooms were getting renovated, I couldn’t fathom why we were given this dilapidated room. All in all, we paid for our room and for the use of a swimming pool. This is not a resort if you have no amenities, it’s as good as a BnB. I would pay the amount I did for a BnB. If I had known that this “resort” doesn’t offer any of these facilities, I wouldn’t have booked this place at all. This experience ruined a bit of our holiday.

    Living on stilts

    rating22 Dec 2022

Hotel is quite far from town but not too far from airport. I was staying at the stilts structure over the water so the experience is unique. Room is big with standalone pantry, a sitting area with windows, a balcony with table and chairs for a cuppa in the morning, a bathroom with separate shower and a tub. It was very comfortable with all the available space. The mobile signal is weak and there's no wifi in the room. Sunrise and sunset are something to look forward to. Walking out and back through the wooden platform was comforting with a villagey feel to it and a great an unobstruct view all around. Breakfast was to be serve to your room but you have to order it the day before. I did not order any though.
