A Scenic Mountain Stay with Stunning Views of Mount Kinabalu

We stayed one night at Kinabalu Pine Resort as part of our Intrepid trip — a complete contrast to the Kinabatangan River and another wonderful glimpse of Sabah’s diversity.Beautifully positioned in Kundasang, the resort offers spectacular views of Mount Kinabalu and the surrounding mountains. It’s also within walking distance of local restaurants and the town’s lively markets filled with fresh produce and plants. A visit to the Kundasang War Memorial nearby is highly recommended — a poignant and beautifully maintained tribute to the Australian and British soldiers of World War II, set in peaceful terraced gardens overlooking the valley.

Otherwise okay, but the poor rabbits!

The rooms were somewhat dated but very spacious. Views, of course, absolutely stunning. The restaurant doesn’t allow alcohol but the food was fine. There is a separate bar area. There is also a small shop which is handy. Breakfast was good although I ate local food – noodles. Number of features around the property which include a playground, barbecue, fishpond and rabbit hutch.The rabbit hutch was absolutely appalling. It was concrete. There were four rabbits inside and extremely poor condition. Each of them look like they wanted to die. It would be good if this could be revitalised in someway so that the rabbits were taken care of properly. This did impact considerably on otherwise pleasant visit.

Lovely views, room was absolutely fine, food average but the rabbits look miserable and are caged in a concrete enclosure, set them free or give their enclosure a MAJOR upgrade!

The lodge looks very nice from outside and the view from there is amazing. The rooms are not bad and quite clean even though the bathroom is quite basic. What we did not like was the food: terrible set dinner (we were part of a tour) and even worse breakfast; being European we might not enjoy Asian breakfast but here the quality was quite low too.

We stayed here just one night,buř were very satisfied. The hotel is in a quiet location and guests get a lot of privacy here. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. Regarding the room, this was spacious and clean apartment. There there was amazing panorama view from our balcony!Breakfast was ok.
