  Terrible night in the hotel

  My stay in the hotel was a disaster. The hotel is located at the very far end of the city, next to city market. The area is dark and dirty, air smells by decomposed fish and vegetables. The room is very basic with minimum of furniture and lights, the window broken, toilet smelly. Avoid it !

  Friendly people. Always smiling housekeeping lady. Near to UTC (wet market, dry food market, vegetable market, fruit market & government department building). Sea view with fishing boats and water taxi. Local groceries store and food stall downstairs. Good seafood restaurant recommended by local on the 1st floor at the corner end. Big clean room and bathroom. OK if you are here to sleep.

  Paint flaking off the walls and no mini bar or even a electric kettle to boil water. TV has only 3 channels. No room service but plenty of restaurants and bars around. Staff are quite friendly. Wifi doesn't really work except after midnight when there's less congestion. Really a no frills hotel if you're on a budget.

  At the time of writing this is the cheapest option in walking distance to Labuan Ferry Terminal that advertises online. There are some cheaper places, but you would have to just walk around when you get there. They do not provide breakfast.The hotel is above a string of shops, if you walk to it from the ferry (10-15mins) you will see a big sign on the side of the building, and the entrance is round the side.Do not expect anything fancy! It is clean but run down. The outside is near a fish dock, and inside it needs a lot of updating.However, it is close to the bus terminal, a RM20 ride away from the airport, has working aircon, slow but useable wifi - all the things that are good for a backpacker, but maybe not enough for someone on holiday.Be sure to visit Labuan Tourist Information, they are very useful with lots of free maps and guides for all over Malaysia. The central market a few minutes walk from the hotel has lots of fresh fruit and some breakfast options, and walking to the centre of town is also not far.

  There's not much to choose from in Labuan and honestly, this probably is not the worst choice. It is located in a pretty sketchy neighborhood and next to a karaoke bar but we weren't bothered. It's still walking distance to the pier. The room was big. Bathroom was not the cleanest but ok. Beds comfortable. Wifi worked fine. The staff was ignorant. If for some reason you find yourself in Labuan, this is an ok choice.
