The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. A baggage storage service and a safe are available.     Our first day in Malaysia with our tour company. We asked the staff about groceries, and some beer. I know Malaysia is a Muslim country, so we weren't expecting a lot, but the staff barely spoke English ( ok I can't speak Malay) but it's a hotel that caters to international tourists so the various direction we go were useless.We were on the 4th floor, lobby looks very flash but rooms not so. No fridge, no charging ports for internet. Windows are locked so no fresh air, Air con either cold as ice or noisy and hot. shower was OK, but every level of the floor was uneven, bedroom, bathroom etc. Im not sure how many times I tripped over. We were on the seafront, so nice views if you like looking at all the trash floating by . We did see some Sea otters, but also lots of cats and rats, er, lots of rats. Our breakfast was included, it was Ok but nothing special. if you want cheap as chips budget, yes the hotel is fine, but we would not stay there again.

    The Elopura is in a good location on the waterfront. It’s a music themed hotel with old music posters and items around.The bed was very hard and we both had back ache in the mornings. The bathroom was very small and not very clean. Power went off intermittently and the air conditioning was so noisy that we turned it off. Breakfast was served next door and was ok if you wanted Malaysian food but pretty dismal otherwise and the coffee was horrible. There’s a coffee shop around the corner and McDonald’s opposite. Staff were friendly and check in efficiently done .

    Arrived on 13th Sep, the evening that the whole east coast of Sabah had power failure. Despite the power failure, the staff of Elopura was very cheerful and cheered up all the guest. We had dinner at the hard deck and they were ever so cheerful. Even the next day when we had lack of sleep (and I m pretty sure the whole of Sandakan had lack of sleep) but all the staff remained cheerful!

    The hotel is in a great location on the harbour, however I could only rate this as average. The rooms were very clean, the sheets were of a good quality- however, the walls needed a paint and the bathroom was a little worse for wear. I stayed at this hotel as part of a Tripadeal package. Breakfast on the first day was great with lots of options, both western and Malaysian cuisine. On the second day, over 60 additional Tripadeal travellers had arrived, so we were put into a smaller space with less food options. When on a tour, everyone is leaving early, so at breakfast early. I’m not sure where everyone sat.
