    One night survival

    rating26 May 2025

Reception looks nice and staff friendly but the rooms are pretty poor. Size was ok but one bathroom was disgusting old moldy dirty. Bath covered in dark brown stains. Really horrible. The other room had a renovated bathroom and was much better. Smoke smell is the air con despite being non smoking. Breakfast was nice and plentiful, lots of local dishes. One night we survived. Surrounding area had restaurants and a convenience store.

Dusty and rundown, but service was okay

    rating06 Aug 2019

Glad that I stayed just for 1 night, but that 1 night cause me to have a bar flu, as I am allergic to dusty. The place itself is okay, and quite convenient for those who just want to stay for a day transit, as it is near to the airport, and only 20mins to Sepilok Orang Utan. The place is rundown, as u can see in the pictures, they seem not to have effort to change the bad wall paper, clean the dusty etc. Really need to refurbish again. Stay away if u have an allergic to dusty, u will regret like me. But a good area for transit in terms of location. Breakfast food was just okay.

    Good for Sepilok

    rating11 Apr 2019

We had a slight change to our itinerary and stopped here on the off chance. We had a clean, but musty smelling room with a hint off cigarettes.Nice comfy double bed, a great shower and room service. It was all we wanted and were satisfied with them all. Food was good.We had a breakfast as part of our stay and the accommodated for the western palate as well as the Malay, simple but adequate. It took us 15 minutes to drive to The Orangutan Centre at Sepilok the following morning.

    Bad choice!

    rating04 Oct 2018

The Pavilion, SandakanReception staff (JoJo) was friendly and polite. The entrance/lobby looked quite nice. We wish we had looked at the room before paying for it as it was appalling. We realised we'd made a huge mistake booking the room firstly when we got into the lift which smelt of cigarettes and was in dire need of a good clean and secondly when we got out of the lift and saw the state of the corridor carpet which was covered in stains. When we got into our room things did not improve. The room had a bad smell to it. The floor wasn't very clean. The headboard had stains on it. The pillows smelt of sweat. There were marks on the not so white sheets. There was a door in our room that joined the room next door!! This was unlocked and there was no way for us to lock it so we jammed a chair under the handle. We were thankful that we had only booked the one night. Breakfast was basic. We were glad to be moving on. This hotel is not cheap in comparison to some of the other hotels. The following night we booked into the Sabah Hotel which cost us only a fraction more but this hotel was beautiful in every single way. Book Sabah Hotel NOT The Pavilion!!!

    Pretty Good

    rating16 Sept 2018

Booked a room without window for a day stay. Breakfast was included in the price rate which was nice (coffee was good). Amenities inside the room were basic but nevertheless enough. Staffs were friendly and helpful too! Strategic place to look for food outlet too!
