    Terrible - refused to stay

    rating26 Jan 2018

Didn't have high expectations given the reasonable price but did expect a clean and comfortable room. When we arrived the first thing we could smell was damp/mould. We asked to see the room and the walls were damp and the room stank. There was this general mouldy smell throughout the building. We advised the receptionist that we did not want to stay and he got very argumentative asking us to pay for the full three nights we had booked. We refused on the basis that the room was damp and dirty and left. Terrible attitude from the staff.

Rude staff and filthy filthy area!

Perhaps the worst place I've ever been to. I hate leaving bad reviews but I feel compelled to do so with this particular place. So I made my way to the hostel at 8am as my flight landed early. The area around the hostel was full of prostitutes offering massages but the worst bit is the amount of rubbish outside. It stank the whole entrance!! Don't these people have any sort of hygiene standards!!? Waited outside the door for a good 15mins before anyone came to open it. I actually even had to call the hostel to tell them I was outside. Isn't this hostel advertised as being opened 24/7!!!?! This dirty looking man opened the door, didn't even apologise for making me wait, it seemed as though he was annoyed at the fact he was woken up from his sleep. He said if I wanted to check in early I will have to pay extra(which is fine) however I have never ever been asked this from any establishment after travelling through 55 countries. He was rude, unfriendly and seemed like he couldn't be bothered being there. I've just got off a long flight, I'm tired and I just wanted to lie down. In the end I was sick of his attitude so I told him I wanted to cancel the room. I left and found a lovely homestay across the road which was clean, affordable with amazing host! DO NOT EVER STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WISH TO BE TREATED WITH DISRESPECT. THE ATTITUDE IS ONE OF THE WORST IVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE.

    Stay away

Was looking for a room for two persons and agreed a price for 4 days. He showed me the room which was a dorm style room with two bunks. I though it was OK because we can sleep on top and use the lower beds as common area. After we agreed the manager Ali said we can take the room first at 2:00pm (even though it was already cleaned) or pay extra 30rm. Although justifiable by the book extremely stingy for customers booking 4 nights when the room is ready. After we moved our stuff and asked for extra pillows he said we cannot use all the beds. Since the room was small but high that meant we could only use 50% of the room and not have our "common area" in the lower bunks. He said this is because we are two persons they should only have to wash 2 sheets. I asked how many rm for an extra sheet but he ignored me and didn't want to agree on as to use everything in the room we rented. We booked a room for two and not two dorm beds to clarify and this was agreed from the start as he said it will be exclusively for us. He said nothing before about not being able to use the whole room. He also made a cheap apology as to "he is losing two beds"  like he was doing us a favor. I chose this room because I checked a few other guesthouses and the room was best for our needs. There are cheaper rooms which also has breakfast. This place has free toasts and coffee/tea in morning but who calls that breakfast? Anyway my friend decided to pay rm30 which he offered to end the discussion. Ali is otherwise a nice man and talks very much. However if your job is to do business you should know that if you make sell a fruit platter you can not remove the bananas after the customer paid and say he need to pay more to get them back. I got the feeling they really tried to get every single penny out of everything possible. Another minus was that one of the toilets was unflashable and that it was not possible to lock the toilet since broken mechanism. Both me and my friend ended up leaving 1 day before our stay ran out therefore paying for 1 day we didn't stay. For me it was mostly the beds that were so soft that my back pain has gone fromnit 0 to severe to serious. But everything else contributed too.

    Good location but crappy hotel

The bed was OK but the room was really small so if you're even a little bit claustrophobic you shouldn't stay here. The bathrooms weren't cleaned once when we stayed there for 4 nights. The guys from the reception where to tired? To even greet us and the where living in the building as well.. One guy was laying around with his girlfriend all day.Yes kind of weird. The accommodation is good. It's downtown near some really good restaurants and shops!
