I wanted to love this property, but it was meh

    rating30 May 2025

We were in a nearby town for a memorial service and decided to try out this Hampton Inn since we needed to stay overnight somewhere nearby. The room overall was clean, bed was comfortable, and I appreciated the light shades and heavy blinds for the window. The room did not really have a closet to hang clothing. There was a shallow closet of sorts that stored the ironing board and then had a short post poking out from the wall. You can hang one garment on this short post, but really cannot hang other garments on the same post because it's so short. I'm not sure where else one could be able to use the other hangers in the room. We had to remove the other hangers in order to hang a dress (without it falling off the post onto the floor)., and just kind of stacked up the hangers on the empty, narrow shelf or cubbie hole above it. There was also a modern metal suit rack of sorts in the room closer to the door, but the hanger part had a vertical pole sticking up does not really hang a jacket on well. The pants part of this metal rack worked fine. There were also some open cubbies/shelves that I think were for storing other clothing as there was were no dresser drawers. I am not sure if all Hampton Inns have strange closet/clothing spaces like this. The modular, rolling ottomans were very handy for resting our suitcases, and the upholstered chair and office chair at the table were comfortable to sit in. We appreciated the number of outlets in the room to charge our phones and laptop. We normally make coffee in the room before we head down for coffee, but our coffee machine was inoperable (we left a note for housekeeping about it). We also had planned to report this to the front desk when we checked out but no one was at the desk so we dropped off our keys and left. The doors do not have handles that turn if you try to leave quietly in the morning (to prevent waking up other guests) you are forced to pull on the door, which makes a loud clacking noise. The doors themselves are heavily sprung, so if go in or out of the room without handling the door knob, it will loudly slam shut. A small but annoying detail if there are other guests who wake up much earlier than you. The lack of space for storing clothing if staying in the area for more than an overnight was striking. We will probably stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites down the road the next time we'll be in town longer than 1 night. Carla Thaller, Owner at Hampton Inn Hazleton, responded to this review Thank you for staying with us at the Hampton Inn by Hitlon Hazleton and for taking the time to write about your experience. We appreciate your kind words regarding our amenities along with the constructive criticism of those that didn't meet your needs. As you have said our hotel is designed by Hilton for Business travelers and can make stays of Leisure guest a little less of a perfect fit. We can offer options to help in these situations when given the opportunity to assist our guests. We would have been more than happy to replace the coffee machine for you given the opportunity. Our doors are set to guarantee they close if a guest simply lets the door go. This, as you can probably guess, is for safety and security reasons. This is regulated by Hitlon, and we are inspected twice a year to make sure we meet this standard and many other standards in order for us to remain as a Hampton Inn by Hilton Hotel.Thank you and if you have any questions, other comments or concerns please let us know.

    Wedding Fun!

    rating06 May 2025

I stayed at this hotel May 2nd for one night to attend my niece's wedding nearby. Check-in was a pleasant breeze with Scott and Sam the next day could not have been lovelier! The head of housekeeping (I apologize I do not remember her name) could not have been more accommodating! This is a lovely hotel with breathtaking views made even better by the people who work here! I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone!

We most always stay at Hampton inn when traveling and this one ranks near the top. Appears to be recently redone. Very up to date furnishings. Had a third floor room facing the valley, beautiful view. We had dinner at Damon’s, just down the street. Would highly recommend. Efficient check in and out. Would highly recommend.

Excellent hotel! Clean spacious rooms, good breakfast and wonderful view of the Conyngham Valley. Staff was also terrific, especially Glenn at the front desk and Todd who was incredibly helpful & responsive with an issue I had after our stay. Easy 5 stars!
