  Dirty rooms, thin walls

  Eventhough we were in a room for just 2 people, we could hear people snoring in the other room very loud. The room was dirty and boring, just a bed and a plastic chair and a mirror. The owner seemed nice, but besides that this is not a very nice hostel. The worst of all was that people are allowed to smoke on the stairs! Therefore the whole building smells like smoke too. Not good. Free drinking water is provided.

  So bad we had to check out early

  This hostel was so bad we had to check out early. Here’s a few points about our stay.- stunk of cigarettes most of the time - the twin rooms had no windows - the sheets felt dirty, so old you can tell they’ve been washed 1000 times over 10 years or something- the beds were old and creaky - the toilets and showers were right behind the reception desk (so they could probably hear everything) and also they were right next to the kitchen area where people would prepare food. - the receptionist guy was exasperated most of the time, clearly fed up The only good points were that it was central to town - which was great because we didn’t want to spend any time in the room at all. One other receptionist the night manager, gave us some coffee sachets too. Just to be clear, We’ve been travelling for about 3 months now and stayed in some questionable places. We’re also on a budget so know what money can get you. And by far this was one of the worst places still to this day

  Nice staff nice stay

  Submarine guest house is in an excellent location, very close to China Town with lots of food options. The room was basic but all that we needed. Ac worked well and is well needed in KL. The staff were very very helpful and friendly also. The communal showers and toilet located beside the front desk which was a little awkward having the staff here you in the toilet! The walls in the bedroom were very thin and you could hear every conversation spoken in the next door rooms. Good for a budget traveller.

  Excellent value. Max the manager is fantastic.

  Remember to PUSH the door when entering. Don’t let the pull handle fool you!Booked in here for two nights and extended to three. Located in a great spot next to China town with the Metro and Pasar Seni train station just down the road.Max the manager is fantastic and goes the extra mile to help with any questions and directions. The manager who works during the night is also fantastic and both are extremely friendly.The facilities are adequate here as you’d expect for the price. We stayed on the third floor same as reception. I would give five stars however the walls are quite thin and we could hear everything in the room above, woken up at early hours and during the night from it. Guessing it was a dorm but unsure. Air con worked great, only one plug in double room but not an issue for us. Friendly guests, 24 hour reception and free tea and coffee. Would stay here again.

  MAXimum convinience for a traveler on a budget

  This guest house is an excellent choice for travelers who are on a budget but wants to have a convenient place to stay. It has basic and good & clean facilities which are needed for you to survive :-) .. toilet, shower, bed & beddings , cool aircon, drinking water, coffee, towel is for rent for 2RM. PLUS, it has MAX, the jolly good fellow manager of the guest house who really would make you feel so welcomed and is always ready to help you. The location is excellent too. It is near bus and mrt station, very near central market, near eating places , 7 eleven or KK store, petaling street, and there is also a mall nearby ( I forgot the name). Just a note: it has no lift , and if you are used to a hotel setting, then this is not the place for you.
