    Great stay at Paragon Hotel

    Great hotel . We stayed here and were then able to leave our big case while we went to Singapore for a few nights before returning to the hotel . The staff are lovely, the breakfast is great and the rooms spacious and clean. It is well placed to get around the city and to JB Sentral bus station to get to Singapore . Great night market on Monday night.

    Very nice hotel with a superb location. Breakfast is decent. The room is spacious, and the bathroom is well maintained. We were really lucky to find a clean bathtub in Johor Bahru.

    Would never want to go back again

    I thought I would have a good end to my trip, but Grand Paragon made sure it didn't happen. This "4-star" hotel is a made pretty 2-star hotel. I should have read the reviews first before booking. If anyone is looking at this, be sure to read others' thoughts on this hotel.From the start, check in took more than 20 mins. They could find my booking and said I only booked 1 room, where I had already paid through Agoda for 2 rooms.At the check in, there were 2 China tourists who did not know English and were trying to book a room for 3 nights using the phone translator app. The entire counter staff had no one able to speak Chinese. The male staff serving them was not even empathetic, did not get help, did not even try and even gave them a "I am better than you" look when they were fumbling through the translator app. I stepped in and helped to translate and got their rooms booked, not even a word of thanks. 中国旅客要注意，这个酒店的服务生歧视不懂英文或马来文的人。Maybe it's my naivety that if I don't see signs, or written rules that prohibited durians in. I had a box of shrink wrapped durian that was leftover from the previous place. The manager came and told me there is a RM300 fine for durians. I told him to show me the sign, or any written rule. He showed me that tiny sign in the elevator. No fines mentioned whatsoever.How shady is this practice!? Make the sign as small as possible, no written fine amount any where in the documents I signed when I checked in. "I am following procedures" he said, and he cannot produce any document of the procedure.I had enough with this already, and I didn't really want to argue anymore so I just paid.Visit Malaysia 2026? Yeah, but you don't want to be visiting this place.

    Comfortable & Worth It – Grand Paragon JB

    Stayed here for 2 nights for a work trip. From the outside, the hotel looks a bit old-school, but once you’re inside, the decor is quite modern and nice. Check-in was smooth and quick, no issues at all. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I was happy to see they had Netflix – perfect for chilling after work. Toiletries were complete too, which is always a plus.Breakfast was great with lots of choices. I especially loved the sambal nasi lemak – seriously sedap! The breakfast area was calm and not crowded, so it was a relaxing start to the day.Overall, I had a really good stay and I’d definitely come back again next time I’m in JB.
