An awful experience and one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had.

    rating01 May 2026

The room was extremely dim, very outdated, and not clean. There were visible signs of mold on the walls, and overall the condition of the room was heavily worn and poorly maintained. The quality of the bed was also below standard and not comfortable. In addition, the refrigerator in the room was very old, with visible rust and signs of damage. It was also quite noisy due to the motor, which made the stay even less pleasant. The hotel amenities were also very poor and far below expectations. Overall, the condition and quality of the room and facilities were unacceptable.

    Convenient but unremarkable

    rating26 Apr 2026

Good location and clean room. Had a good view facing the school and could not hear the busy road from the high floor.Great scenery of the sea from the rooftop restaurant, where we had some drinks. Rather pricey for the fruit cordial instead of fresh juices. A nice spot to see the cruise ships coming into dockOn the whole, it's a good location. Walking distance to Kimberley food street and Love Lane for drinks. The hotel looks tired and in need of refurbishment, even though the rooms and bathrooms are kept clean. Value for money and a conveniently unremarkable stay on the island.

Pleasant stay, nice location, needs some work.

    rating26 Mar 2026

Had a relaxing 4 night stay here. Hotel is well located in Georgetown and our room had good views over the ports and was comfy with nice shower, tv, fridge etc and daily cleaning was good.Breakfast was good and staff service generally satisfactory. The hotel at points is clearly in need of refurbishment and upgrades as others have said. The pool area gets little sun and has only a few undamaged sunbeds or chairs. There is a roof terrace near to the pool but this had only 2 chairs for an extensive area.We understand the hotel has been acquired by another hotel group ( Ascott) and it will be closing within a few months for significant upgrades, refurbishment etc.We wish the staff well for the future and hope that this grand old lady of a hotel will come back better than ever under the new ownership.

    Lovely stay 4 days

    rating03 Mar 2026

We saw a lot of lousy / bad reviews so were about to cancel our reservation. Though we had a good stay, room is spacious, service is friendly and good and the breakfast is amazing with numerous of choices. The rooms and hotel could have an upgrade for sure but recommend to book at this hotel. Thank you for a good stay. Not sure how this is a 4 star hotel...

    rating22 Feb 2026

Expected better things from a hotel not too far from the centre of George Town considering the Eastern and Oriental Hotel is across the road which oozes class and the rooms are impeccable. The hotel foyer gives you a false sense of what the rooms are like. The staff are welcoming, attentive. On entering the floors with the rooms on you can tell immediately that this hotel is due a massive refurb, from reading past reviews the responses from management keep mentioning but it looks like they are not interested in refurbishing this hotel. I'm interested to know what the locals who stay here think of the place.Carpets are very worn and tired in the hallways, doors are old, they and the walls all need a good paint. Entering the rooms - carpets again old, need a good clean - ours were not hoovered much during our stay. Many cracks in the walls, with marks from many visitors. The TV's are old, very bad reception - in this day and age Smart TV's are in the majority of hotels now, not this one.The bathrooms were also very disappointing - the ceiling fans did not work, you can tell they haven't worked in a long time due to the mould all over the ceiling which has been painted over. The shower is for someone who is shorter than 5 foot and the shower heads all need a clean. The bath is grotty, damaged, mouldy grout around the bath and outside. The walls behind the toilet look splattered with god knows what.I don't want to complain about the staff as I know they try their best but we had to call a few times for more toilet roll - single ply doesn't go very far between 3 people. There's only so much hand soap you need and this was replenished more than needed. I collected 25 toothbrushes - again not needed as we had our own.The windows soundproofing is not very good even high up on many floors. The soundproofing between rooms is poor, you can hear another room flushing toilets. This is definitely not somewhere I would choose to stay again unless it has had a major refurbishment - which from the parrot management responses on other reviews have just been ignored. You can keep saying you will take on board what paying customer have experienced but action is stronger than words.Breakfast - was included in our room rate - I'm glad I didn't pay extra as I had enough after 2 mornings - poor coffee machines - extremely slow. There is a decent Dim Sum 'Fu Er Dai' about 5 mins walk from the hotel with we used a few times. The pool - is always cold - it's in the shadow of the hotel and does not get any sun at all - the jacuzzi is warm.
