    Nice view

Better than Kew Gardens with an amazing view with lots of geodesic domes for plants and if you don’t know what a geodesic dome is, you will come out knowing all about them!

The hotel plays on the view over George Town

    rating28 Jun 2023

Sadly the hotel plays it's advertising on the view from the terrace area. First impressions are that it is dirty and uninviting. If you can get past that AND the outdated rooms and décor, you stand a chance of appreciating the view it relies on to entice its guests. The food was minimal. The breakfast appeared to be tinned/frozen with a fried egg - no other choice. All food options were very limited and did not comply with the advertised menu at the front of the property. We were housed in the bedroom (#8) which is next to the reception and was noisy. You could hear everything said on the reception telephone and to guests. The bedding had ingrained stains and the pillows were uncomfortable and smelt. The curtains were ripped and dirty as were the nets. The toilet brush had remnants from the previous occupants waste. We had visitors in the bathroom (a gecko [not a problem] and various spiders). It was damp and had a fausty smell. Some rooms appeared to fair in a little better. The corridor had scatter carpets (trip hazards) and cobwebs over the light fittings. Paintwork was bubbling in rooms, dining area and reception. Not disable friendly due to steps. All in all it's sad to see the possibilities for what could be such a lovely little hotel ignored and no pride taken. I understand that the conditions are hot and humid but there is SO MUCH potential and missed opportunities. With a heavy heart I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

    Lunch with a spectacular view...

    rating02 Jan 2023

We did not stay here, and we only dropped by for lunch. The nice guy at the reception brought us to the restaurant which was an outdoor area, overlooking a nice lawn and with spectacular views. There were only 2 other guests there - one was reading and another was painting. We ordered pumpkin soup, fish and chips, club sandwich, ice lemon tea and water.Everything was really delicious - must be the great view!

    Nice Relaxing place

    rating31 Mar 2021

The hotel is a little old. Some areas may need some upgrading. Nevertheless, it is one place good for a peaceful relaxing weekend. The room we had was simple, but served its purpose. It had a large fixed glass panel that allowed a good view of the trees surrounding the hotels. Staffs were friendly. and helpful.

Chap Goh Meh at Bellevue Hotel Penang Hill.

    rating01 Mar 2021

Celebrating Chap Goh Meh at Bellevue Hotel Penang Hill with the full moon beckoning was the best getaway after a year of a “pandemic imprisonment” of an initial lockdown followed by a “forever extended” MCO . At an elevation of 800 meters above sea level with a sprawling panoramic terrace at the back of the hotel , social distancing is a snap. The full moon was glowing by 8 pm for a sumptuous dinner on Bellevue s signature steamboat of fresh seafood . The fresh air, a vital weapon against Covid-19 and relaxed atmosphere restored my senses which have experienced profound disruption from the pandemic aggravated by a broken hip from a bad fall last July. Fireworks from an adjacent bungalow lit up the sky at 10 pm to mark the end of the lunar Chinese New Year . But my flight of fantasy had just begun with Yiling Chang singing the famous aria to the moon from “ Rusalka” and another from “Samson and Delilah”. At midnight, I stepped out onto the lawn to bask in the constellation of stars above , humbled by its vast expanse, whilst Georgetown sparkled like a mine of jewels below . The cool natural breeze lulled me to sleep at 1 am and I awoke at 630am refreshed to sun-sight just as it emerged like a ray of hope in the horizon. After a hearty breakfast I revisited the aviary to say hello to my dear old friends - the green parrot and the two male peacocks perched high up with their feathers hanging down like an elegant emerald evening gown . I tip-toed up close and personal with my dear forlorn hornbill and was dazzled by the lovely yellow and red bromeliads blooming. The connectivity with nature rejuvenated me so after a quick lunch, I lingered till 5 pm to savour the fresh air and scenic views before I left reluctantly with the hotel ‘s 4WD downhill.
