  friends visited penang for the year end break and finding for an affordable clean hotel at tanjung bungah area. we found this hotel and are very happy with our stay. good staff and clean rooms and toilets.

  Ridden with Bed Bugs

  My wife and I stayed here on the night of 5th November. We could hardly sleep as the bed was ridden with bed bugs. When I complained to the receptionist, he offered me another room which was leaking and the bed and floor were wet. We spent the whole night sitting and killing bugs.

  We stayed in Tanjung Bungah for an event. Otherwise we would never stay here. Skyscraper appartments and big hotels are not our holiday destination kind of thing. If you want to discover Penang you are definitely better of in Georgetown also concerning accomodation. Tanjung Bungah is expensive, made for arabian tourists mainly.We opted for the New Hope Inn as it was the only budget accomodation. The location is good directly at the bus stop (buses going directly to Georgetown, the ferry terminal and the airport as well as the National Park). Nothing to complain about that. There is enough parking space for private cars.Staff was ok, but not super friendly. We had a room away from the street in the back. It was big and quiet (could here the birds at night). There were tea making facilities in the room. That's about the good points. Overall it was definitely not clean. Old spiderwebs and dust in the corners and on the ceiling. Bed sheets were stained. The smoke of cigarettes was in the air. We could hardly get rid of the smell with opening the window. Bathroom was also basic and old. Room was cleaned on request the next day. Afterwards it was a little bit better, but not much. At least we got fresh towels.

  I would highly recommend this beautiful tiny budget hotel for a real feel of the quiet and leisurely Penang. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, though the toilet in the standard room is a bit cramped. They provide a small bottle of mineral water, towels, soap and a coffee everyday. The free wifi has good speed. There is no hotel in the neighbourhood at this price range. The hotel is accessible easily by Rapid Penang buses for the budget traveller. The staff let me keep my luggage just like that for an entire day after I checked out. They would warmly extend all possible help. Quite impressed with the service and stay.
