  Not impressed but Ok for 2 nights to explore Georgetown

  PROS: Close to food areas. CONS: Musty smell in room; Singing from nearby food hall at nights. REVIEW: Stayed Nov-2023 for 2 nights in standard room without breakfast. On checkin they required 50 MYR deposit as well as 20 MYR tourist tax. Told them this was already pre-paid by me (as well as the room) on the travel website. I was then asked to pay 4 MYR heritage tax. There are 2*lifts but the porter, did not help me. The room on the 10th floor was musty/smelt of cigarettes on entering, the aircon panel was not functioning well. The window opened a little so I left it open for a few hours.No safe, but safety boxes behind reception. Breakfast on 11 floor with panoramic views but I looked at the food and for me felt it was not worth the cost of 25 MYR. Lots of places to eat walking distance nearby.Loud singing late at night could be heard in my 10th floor room. I think it originates from the Red Garden Food Centre where there is live singers every night.

  Old hotel that urgently needs an upgrade

  The hotel looks sad and old. There was a smell in the corridor probably from the aged and worn carpet. The aircon in the room was not cold and the thermostat couldn’t be adjusted. There weren’t enough towels provided in the bathroom and there was no toiletries. But my main grouse is that you can hear loud singing from the lounge from 9pm onwards.

  Been here for just a night stay since i have an early meeting next day. Looking for a reasonable price hotel just near KOMTAR. The rest of my team, took a day use room for changing and bath and we took the breakfast package. Room was clean and neat, my view was the penang bridge. A bit of lack of toiletteries amenities, but i dont mind sinbce i brought my own stuff. breakfast was on 11th floor, its a open area and the view is magnificient. we can see a whole lot of Penang, with the price of RM25.00 for buffet breakfast, they offered a pretty standard Malaysia kind of breakfast, Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng , sausages, hash brown, freef low of coffee, tea and orange juice and watermelon. Since we need to be early, i opt for open parking spot, but free for hotel guest. They allow bus to park infront of the hotel. Another plus side is that, the have the Sup Hameed just infront of the hotel. Convinient huh. and it is situated in the centre of Georgetown making it earsier to reach every touristy spot.

  The hotel was really clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Parking was perfect and the hotel within easy walking distance of all the restaurants and cafes of Georgetown. Breakfast isn't worth staying for and we elected to eat out. We had a room with a sea view and it really was lovely. Recommended place to stay.

  Location is strategic - in the middle of town. Lots of restaurants, shops and stalls are walking distance from the hotel.Free parking.There's a convenience shop just downstairs the hotel but you can find a few along the way.Bank is just around the corner. Breakfast is basic but good enough - you need to choose either oriental or western and served with toasts. Room is clean and comfortable, limited TV channels though. It could be better if they put power plug at both sides of the bed.Walls are a bit thin and not soundproof so you can hear outside noise most of the times.Staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. I ask for iron and it was sent to my room in less than 5 mins. They even asked if i need to change my towels. Personally I'm really satisfied and if I'm coming back to Penang I'm definitely staying here.
