Avoid Sentral Hotel Georgetown Unless You Enjoy Disappointment

    rating23 Oct 2025

Avoid Sentral Hotel Georgetown Unless You Enjoy DisappointmentIf you're into stained sheets, sweaty pillowcases, and the thrill of wondering whether your room was actually cleaned—this is the place for you. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the unmistakable scent of someone else's sweat embedded in the linens. Housekeeping's explanation? "New staff probably forgot to change it." Ah yes, the classic blame-the-rookie move. Front office took their sweet time to send someone over—maybe they were waiting for the sweat to evaporate on its own? Natural Eau de Toilette.Speaking of front office, prepare to be ignored. En Zakwan couldn’t be bothered to make eye contact, and the Malay lady at the counter responded to our questions with the enthusiasm of a brick wall. Hospitality? Not in their vocabulary. The room itself? A masterclass in neglect:- Aircond that leaks and roars like a jet engine- Door that refuses to latch—privacy optional- Basin, coffee table, and toilet floor all competing for “dirtiest surface”- Dusty wooden flooring that hasn't seen a mop in agesAnd the pillows? Like sleeping on bricks wrapped in fabric. If you're hoping for comfort, bring your own or prepare for a neck workout. There's Thai Best Massage waiting for ya directly opposite the hotel.Wi-Fi was so weak it might as well have been powered by hamster wheels. And while check-in was fast, don’t expect a warm welcome—you’ll need to initiate human interaction yourself.Soundproofing? Nonexistent. Enjoy the full audio experience of your neighbors’ conversations, TV shows, and door-knocking adventures. The property is poorly maintained. In short: this room should not be sold. It should be quarantined. Stay elsewhere unless you're conducting a study on poor hospitality. Really ruined our vacation. For this price, its really no value for money.

Great staff & location - shabby room

    rating17 Sept 2025

This hotel is in a perfect location to see all the sites in Georgetown. The staff are really friendly, however the room is shabby with no hot water.I won't be staying here again.

    Quite ok

    rating23 Jun 2025

For my budget solo travelling, this very centrally-located hotel in downtown George Town was quite alright. There was a more than adequate complimentary buffet breakfast as well. The room rate which i pre-paid via agoda.com a couple of months ago was quite alright too (for me anyway). The air conditioning worked well. There was a spacious bath room. My bed was comfortable enough. I could open the small windows for some fresh air. What more did i need?

Pay a Few £ More and stay elsewhere

    rating25 Jan 2025

They refused to check anyone until exactly 3PM. It was like a disorganised zoo at the best. Room was smelly, damage everywhere. Towels were an off white yellow. Asked too change rooms. Advised we should be grateful as they upgraded us, which they DIDNT!!!!!!! We pain for a superior room. Asked too see manager. He just said sorry and scuttled away like a rat. No HOT WATER for 3 days. Asked too see manager they refused and said he’s too busy, write to the ministry of tourism was my response. There was Damage all over in the room. Safe did NOT work. Breakfast was basic. Cold tea coffee. Was probably one of the worst hotels with zero customer service from management. They should be ashamed at how they treated us !(My mum is 78) The hotel is geared TOTALLY towards local market. They don’t say anything as their expectations are different and they pay a much lower price than tourists from Europe. I strongly advise spend a few extra £’s / $’s and stay else where it will be worth it!!!

Avoid this hotel if you can book others.

    rating28 Dec 2024

Amenities such as aircon, WC, water heater, TV, fridge, bedsheets, etc are in good working condition. Bath towels are small, permanently stained, really worn out. Floor is dusty, room is dirty. Some guest had trimmed his beard. Hair was on the floor. Advertising photos totally deceiving. The reality is disappointing. Breakfast food is very low budget. Dining hall is small and cramped.I'd give this hotel very low scores for hospitality and cleanliness. Definitely NOT deserving of a 3 star hotel rating. If you have the luxury of time before travelling, search for a better place.
