Hidden right in the heart of Georgetown, small, cosy outfit

    rating31 Aug 2020

Literally a hideaway, Magpje Heritage’s front is one of the old shops in Georgetown. Location-wise it is strategic for tourists who’d like to visit the attractions in the heritage zone. For locals like us who drove, there’s public parking in front of the shophouse. Parking tickets are required on office hours for weekdays and first half of Saturday. Entering the place feels like you’ve been brought to a refurbished heritage place with a blend of the modern taste. There’s an upper floor and the ground level rooms. Due to the wooden floors, don’t expect sound proof because these were retained heritage features. Our room was spacious, decorated with pictures of the 1950s and comes with a little backyard corner. The flooring is slightly uneven, shown in the last photo. Our fridge, opened, saw leftover spoiled milk shakes spill out, and we immediately called the front desk. He’d gone out for dinner and hasn’t eaten at 9pm but he still came back to attend to us immediately. Good service!

    Home away from hone.

I stayed in the blue room. The place has a really nice feel to it. Jeng is an amazing guy who knows a lot about Penang and doesn't mind sharing info with the house guests. He planned our 3 days in Penang and also helped us find good vegetarian restaurants in the area. Highly recommended. Keep in mind it is not a hotel with fancy reception and room service. But with the room you get an ever smiling Jeng who is ready to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. Wonderful Hotel in the heart of Georgetown

    rating05 Jan 2020

We stayed at this charming converted shophouse and loved everything about it -- from the gigantic apartment-style suites with hardwood floors and four-poster beds; to the marvelous location just steps from Armenian and Chulia Streets; to the incredibly gracious manager, Jern. Jern did everything to make sure we were comfortable -- from making dinner reservations to picking us up at the train station to setting us up with bicycles. We give it our highest recommendation. MAGPIEHERITAGE, Manager at Magpie Heritage - Hideaway, responded to this review Hi Tom and family, thanks for staying with us. Really glad to meet all of you and nice chatting session every morning. We are happy to hear that you like our place so much. Hope to see you someday somewhere. Thanks again and take care!Jern

    LOVED IT

    rating05 Dec 2019

Before coming to location, features and amenities, let me just say, after staying in more than 100s of hotels, never have I experienced such a homely environment, where Jern will basically take care of everything. Thats the guy who runs the business. Stayed there 2 nights, great location, edge of the Heritage area, making it much less noisier than other places there. No breakfast though. Jern gave us info on everything we needed, places to go, the nice eateries, the best money exchange, etc. He also got our laundry done lol along with our tickets to Ipoh. We had the 'orange' room. had everything we need, from coffee to a reading table to an ironing board, plus a small balcony to smoke. One more thing, every resident has a personal key card that lets you enter the main building, and so there are times when there is no one at the reception. But the hotel will be at your service through WhatsApp 24/7.Also, though we didn't get into any trouble during our stay, the area outside does get really empty at night, as in u can hardly see a soul.P.S. Jern, if you read this, coming to Karachi Pakistan... you are our guest.cheers. MAGPIEHERITAGE, Manager at Magpie Heritage - Hideaway, responded to this review Hi Ifti and wife, really nice to know that you like our place. I will sure let you know if i happen to visit to Pakistan. Thanks again for staying with us and your reviews. Appreciate it very much. See you...Jern

Affordable and great place to stay in Georgetown Penang

    rating30 Oct 2019

Before arrival we were given clear instructions by Jern as well as upon entry to the hotel and room. Jern is very accommodating and nice.Actual room is really nice and gigantic compared to the pictures in Agoda. Worth every single penny. Hotel is close to georgetown street art, malls, street food and shisha places or bars, massages and 10mins drive (if no jam) from Penang Hill. MAGPIEHERITAGE, Manager at Magpie Heritage - Hideaway, responded to this review Hi Hana and Thibault, thanks for staying with us. Thanks for your review as well. See you next time!
